I dont have any Mods installed and havnt any crash since start so its looks like some mods makes this crashes, question is which one.
So downloading the game again should fix the problem. Btw, we all got that problem at the same time, I dont think we all got the same mod the same day. Btw, the day the crashes began I didnt make anything to my fonline. And server is suffering a lot of bugs recently (this one, tc lockers are fucked, strange messages when loggin in, **new one: cant open modoc locker...).

Ah well, I guess I should just be thankful i can run the game in my wine environment and let it be untill more info is released.

This is happening to me and a few other people I know. Game crashes on initial start but after a restart everything is ok.

I don't have any mods installed, and haven't updated windows in a year or something like that, but I'm having the same crash first time I load a character that others are having.

Wipe, crash happens the moment you open login screen. There is no way to make a log/crashdump.

There is just a windows message like this one:


Just replace" gta_sa.exe" and imagine its "FOnline".

I just get that, using both FOnline.exe or FOnlineGL.exe It appears like 3 seconds after logging in.

What I think, its the next, there is some problem when your character has dissapeared (you know, when u log off for 3mins), so when you log in, you get the crash. Next time you try, your character is not in "dissapeared" mode, its just off, so you can log in without crashes. If you log in for first time, and get the crash, and then, wait for some time (5min?, I havent tested this), you will also get the crash again. To avoid the crash, you have to log in 2 times with your character, but you cant wait for too long.
Ive also tested that, if you log in with character A, you will get the crash, if you
immediately log in again with character B, you will also get the crash, but next, you can log both characters A and B without crashes. In my opinion, because both of them arent "dissapeared".

Seams like everyone I asked gets that for the first time they log in.
It goes like this:
- run FOnline (doesn't matter which exe)
- log in on char X
- after few seconds you get windows pop up "program stopped working"
- run FOnline again
- log in on char X and you can usualy play without problems
- BUT if you relog to char Y you get same crash after few seconds
- restart client and you can play on Y normaly
- you can now relog between X and Y without crash while they are on OFF in game
- if character dissapears and you relog to it you get client crash again

There is no crashdump file in FOnline folder.
There is crash report in system events with "Exception code: 0xc0000005" which is access violation error.

Wipe, crash happens the moment you open login screen. There is no way to make a log/crashdump.
If we skip unrelated stuff, here's what client does on start in multiplayer mode:

First is hooking program exceptions, so client can write a crashdump when, well, crash will happen. To make it actually having sense, client should have directory "dumps" in game folder - that's where crashdumps will be saved (at least in version Reloaded is using). If we are lucky, we can see functions which was called (basing on info provided by FOnline.pdb) before shit hit the fan, what may or may not give an idea where to look for problem; is it client itself, one of game .dlls, or some other place.
Not 100% sure, but it's possible that function listing didn't work well on WinXP - there was some fixes related to that, but hell if i remember when it was added :P

Second is setting game window (size and icon). If it's OpenGL client, it's initialized here, but i don't think it's anything what could make client crash (stuff which could is started after initializing logfile, but hey, you never know). After that, cursor inside window is hidden (client renders its own later), game switch to fullscreen if that's what's in options, and menu is hidden. If window should be always on top, it's done now. Finally client is so nice that it displays blank window.

First line in FOnline.log is added, with client version ("Starting FOnline..."). If you reached this point, you have a chance to get info more verbose about what went wrong. Obviously you need to have logging enabled (and lucky it's like that by default, at least in compact client). It you didn't reach this point you can go back to guessing what went wrong :> Otherwise, client can give you enough info to identify the problem.
There's still a long way to reach and display the login screen, and many things may fail but i don't want people to so early. Logs are your friends.

As a sidenote, even with server being so tolerant for multilog, client itself is more unforgiving when it find out that there is few client windows open - and not all actions taken after are visible, but most are nasty.
That's a common knowledge for old players (just like the ways to avoid that :P), newcomers may keep that in mind.

This is a server side prob I think. So many people having prob. I have updated nothing. Have no mods. Not using pure evil. I am running win7 HP sp1 (also XP sp3, same prob). When was the last update?

What does the SERVER log say and who has the ability to read it?

vote +1:  reboot the server. (run time 2 months? are you benchmarking or something !?!?)

No idea, now just few days ago there was more reports about this problem. And what is deal with "test server"?
