First 5 minutes into game

gets encounter with geckos, automatically on TB. Can't use car, can't hit geckos cause I have 17% hit chance one hex away. (with soldier and zip gun)

Doesn't seem to like non full screen mode, in 800x600 partial screen, the menu selections go out of place and I can't click certain buttons.

Is there something else I have to edit?
