Some vendors wont buy anything from me. Major issue.

I should change the title to say "Most Vendors".

The other day I was in L.A. and the gun vendor to the right and the general store to the left wouldn't buy anything from me. When I placed any item besides cold hard cash onto the bartering table the money value at the bottom would stay at $0. They wouldn't take stuff even for free.
Since then I've been having this issue with other vendors too. Nobody in the Hub will buy anything from me. The vendor that seems to work the most for me is Jeremiah at Darkwaters general store in Junktown, but even then there is stuff that he won't give a value to or even take for free. 

Has anyone else encountered this? Is there a fix?

Yes we all have. It has been posted many times by newer players. It may seem frustrating but it's realistic that not everyone buys everything from anyone. So you have to figure it out; which types of items does each merchant buy?

My question now is...what types of items were you mostly trying to sell?

That was a nice idea from the developers since the start from the session...

All vendors buy only 2-3 categories of stuff, for exemple:

-killian from junktown buy almost all stuff
-trader in necropolis buy only EW stuff
-trader in "guns" from hub buy only melee weapons, drugs, and energy weapons.
-Bazar trader from ncr buy only big guns, good small guns, and energy weapons.

So you need to try...

Some may not be 100% accurate, but for the most part that page says which merchants buy which categories. (For example, if I remember I could only get Ralph to pay for EW's, but the wiki says all guns. It's hit and miss)
Also, ammo should have it's own category but it doesn't. For ammo, the merchants I know of that buy it are; JT general, Hub general, the merchant in Adytum, BH general, Modoc General, and in Shady Sands the guy in Dusty's Cantina, the girl in the Rawhide Saloon, and the guns tent merchant all buy ammo.
Issue is that the categories do change with some updates and the wiki can't keep up. ;w;

Jeremiah will buy leather jackets, but not leather hats? The general store in San Francisco would take nothing I was carrying. A large variety of loot. The gun vendor across the street wouldn't buy a bunch of looted guns from me, but when I gave those same guns to my friend to try selling he would buy from him!
All I'm trying to sell currently is some m60s. Jeremiah is out of caps, and no one. I repeat. No one in the entire Hub will buy them from me. Not even the "Big Guns" vendor. He's the guy who taught me how to make them!
I understand that vendors who sell certain classes of items should only be willing to buy certain items, it makes total sense and I agree that this should be the case, but it seems like it's broken for me. I never had this issue before in the entire time I've played.

Edit: I just now tried Buster in Shady Sands who sells big guns for sure. Won't take em.
And just got murdered in Broken Hills trying to sell to the Caravan guy. I don't know what I expected. Good luck to the guy who looted my corpse. That shit won't sell anywhere.

M60s are the toughest gun to barter. No idea why.

Some items are worth more in mats from science than they are selling.

It's a little annoying, but just figure out what items each vendor has a lot of, and odds are they buy it. It just takes a lot of trial and error, but eventually you'll figure it out.

I also agree about NPC shops, so after wipe they will pay a price even for items they don't want now - but remember such prices will be lower than normal.
