As far as i know you can kill the guy without reputation loss... and dont bother with the kid just leave him/her there loot the stuff if you can and leave the place...
The kid can't do mutch harm to you...

Well if you would have readed the quest properly or would give a fuck what the dude says you would known that he hiers you only to kill 1 person not a person and a kid...
Your contract is for 1 head ofc it is your decision how you do your thing but he does not hired you to kill the kid... anyway the kid will attack you but hes attacks are just do too little damage... so if you killed the dude just go out of the map and thats it.

the last time I did that quest was 2238. Mz. Ground got massacred in la because I didnt pass the lie check. As fir TU, well, it hadnt occured to me to TRY not killing him. *shrug*

Play the hero instead. Sympathize with the target and let him go raise his son. You can still get all the train station locations and you get to go back and deal with the guy who contracted you in LA. Who do you think is tougher: the guy who contracted you, or his target? Killing the target is like playing on Easy mode. Try the challenge of being a hero, and take on the tougher fight back in LA.
