Testing new client
« on: October 11, 2014, 08:01:16 pm »
First thing: this is not an open beta test yet!

This small test is ONLY to check if there are problems with running newer version of client (FPS drops, game crashes and other weird behaviour). That's why we ask you to launch it and play a bit. You will be able to see few or more new features but it's only a small part of what will be brought by new session. Almost everything is WIP but it's not important at this moment - more important is checking stability and compatibility.

Instructions:
- Download the new client from here: (test closed)
- Unzip it to a NEW directory on your HDD,
- Throw "fallout.dat" or "master.dat AND critter.dat" from your Reloaded client into /data/packs directory,
- Run FOnline.exe. Don't run Updater.exe.
- Register a new character and play a bit.

After you think it's enough, you should post following info for us:
+ version of your Operating System, and whether it is 32-bit or 64-bit,
+ your hardware: CPU (at least model), amount of RAM, Video card (at least model),
+ info about encountered problems - if there weren't any, write it!
+ additional things if you think they are important or worth of mentioning,

Note:
- make sure that you're using the newest drivers for your video card,
- you can type /chat command to use global chat. For other commands, press F1 button,
- Altruists have been placed in Hub; one gives free experience, the other one provides some gear,
- 800x600 resolution is no longer considered as supported, use higher,
- Mapper is now integrated in client,
- Client and mapper are updated automatically when launched.

Known/temporary issues:
- Many objects have ugly blue background colour,
- Hex shooting/throwing, displaying TC zones etc. doesn't work if you visit worldmap (or login on worldmap),
- Using Automap in Pipboy gives strange results,
- Some messages in Fixboy are wrong,
- Bug in scrolling the worldmap while using fullscreen mode - use window mode when scrolling worldmap,
- Poor performance on some video cards, but we ask you to post a report on it,
- Changing resolution causes interface to be displayed in wrong area - restart client.

New client requires update, when I'm trying to update it does get stuck on "faction.zip" download. I know it's huge file, but it shouldn't take even this long on fast internet.

Why didn't you just include files that are needed to new client, so we could just paste them to our original "FOnline Reloaded" folder?

Edit:

Was able to update new client, now client does show error:

"Data file 'Datafiles2238.cfg' not found. Run Updater.exe."

I've tried to update, but there isn't Datafiles2238.cfg

If you use updater.exe, then don't, everything except fallout.dat/master.dat/critter.dat is included.

There is no Datafiles2238.cfg in the new client. Unzip it again, copy .dat and run FONLINE.EXE.

I thought it's really obvious but you should unzip new client to A NEW LOCATION on your HDD. Instructions updated.

FPS 60(Vsync)
Vsync doesn't seem work even enabled on new client, I've had same problem on AoP server.

Edit: Can't connect to server, just added fallout.dat to right place and my network is just fine. What is wrong?

Edit: When trying to create character -> "Incorrent SPECIAL data" error appears, I've tried many kind builds.

Maybe you should read. I had same problem on AoP server, and now I'm not able to use new client.

And I can easily say when Vsync is off, even on character creation menu :D

Skilldex and help (called by F1 key) can be closed only by escape key.
Some pictures of items (propably only these from 2238) havn't transparental background.

Computer specs

Windows 7, 64bit
i7-4700MQ, 2,40 GHz up to 3,40 GHz
8 GB RAM
GeForce GT 745M

Problem

Vsync problems (basically, client is too fast):

FPS (500-600)
Fan is getting loud and my computer feels hot.
Mouse is moving too fast during game.

Vsync = True or False, on fonline.cfg have same effect.

This is main problem for most computers (weak ones, laptops..)

Solved with FixedFPS setting!

In 2nd register we can choose 6 main skills but only three the most recent will be stored.

Correction:
These skills "old" are only marked on grey as selected.

Edit: Same in trait selection.

Edit 2:
- Light a cigarret - sound is very wierd.
- When we using chat and if we type letters "q" or "w" then we will switch shoot and look borders.
- Scenery without transparental background? (see screens)

Known/temporary issues:
- Many objects have ugly blue background colour,

and then

-non transparent background in many graphics

Some pictures of items (propably only these from 2238) havn't transparental background.

(and a wall of screenshots)

Wtf guys? I'm aware of it, just didn't have the time to convert images correctly :P Yet!

When you post that you have i7, specify exact model so I can know which GPU is integrated there.

Check if setting FixedFPS inside FOnline.cfg to some value gives any result.
For me, VSYNC always worked (tested on Radeon R9 280X, Geforce GT 550M, Intel HD 3000).

Btw many thanks for the reports, I hope more people will post.
