Can we just make companion camping an offense? Not necessarily a bannable offense, but give them a trait named "Loser" which is like the Loner trait except without the +10% exp gain.

While it sounds appropriate, I don't think it would stop assholes like SkyX though. I vote for the level requirement.

been thinking about it for a while today and a level requirement would solve this problem.

Good ideas:
Possible solution: Make it impossible to logoff inside cities (your character stays there logged on).
1) Logout in towns should send you to the worldmap after the logout timer runs out.
should  really help with alters/fast relog camping in cities.

Lvl requirements good too.

Quests not bad, but I think companions needs to bind to one player while he doing this quest. Couse many players will be wasting time to do quest when 1st player almost done it. If quest will be complicated, It can be used like a bug - someone waiting like others go doing quests for that npc, and  when he see like they almost done he disband that npc.
And maybe it needs cooldown timer or smthng.
And if its bind, not all players could done quest till the end. It is quite complicated feature as 4 me.

Or give Them more Places to spawn like redding, new reno, klamath, modoc
We can consider that gangers just killing companions like other players who not in gangs or just new, couse companions like wastelanders right ?  :D
Gangers just will have more opportunities than loners/new players  if that will be implemented.

Umm... level requirement? Really? I bet on the Reloaded leveling 0-12 olympics the average competitors do under 8 minutes. Campers would be back in a day tops.

Maybe a cooldown for re-hiring a companion after the last one died? Not sure how to program such, but I'd aim for [a week] minus [last companion's lifespan] as duration.  :)

Level requirement would atleast kill those just made lvl1 alts for camping.
(Main problem, solved)

Hmm, cooldown to hire companion sound as very good idea too.

I do suggest to simply take screenshots about thes passive campers who just standing in the bar and send it to the authoritis!
Yeah, we do take screenshots. This topic has few of them too, and thunderdome section.

Yes boss, I know it's a swear word here, and I assume you fight hard to exterminate 'em. But we are adults, and people swear all the time. And I'm just brainstorming.

Should we? I can't find the rule they break or the bug they exploit.

Fastreloging in order to gain thes companions is also a way of exploiting game mechanics!

It is not PvP and however people fastrelog every day among their alts for pve and crafting, mining.

The solution maybe place Companion on random location on town, not at bar only.
And logging out in the city = kick to world map (prevent shop camping, companion camping...)

What if you could also encounter companions in random encounters on the wasteland?

But how would you encounter them? Same kind than special encounter?

I really like this idea, as they are travellers :D

Same as special encounters, so you can meet em anywhere, but obviously not as rare.

It seems a little boring to just encounter them on a random map,
so maybe these encounters could be special maps like "A bar in the wasteland".
