Mod issues - UI
« on: December 07, 2013, 01:35:15 am »
Sorry to be a massive pain and ask for help again, I won't keep this up, but I've been trying for quite a while now.
When trying to install a mod like a custom UI, I follow the instructions listed on the page, most of the time it's always:
Put the .zip file in the Data folder
open the CFG file
type data/modnamehere and save

Every time I do this, I get an error message saying "datafile/modnamehere" not found. Run Updater.exe."
The game runs fine, but the UI isn't there.

This is what my data folder looks like. I'm assuming this is normal because I tried extracting the folders and removing the .zip archives and it wouldn't run at all.

If I've posted this in the wrong place, I'm sorry.
This is before I put any mod /zips into it, obviously.
Have I totally mis-understood something or have I just messed up?

1. Download modification, this example will use "Pure Evil Interface v14" interface modification.

2. Move the .zip file to FOnline Reloaded\data

3. Next, open DataFiles.cfg with text editor and add following line:
data\Pure Evil Interface v14.zip

4. We are done!

Edit: If doesn't work, may I ask what interface you trying to use?

That was the interface, actually. I followed everything instructed, and tried it again, and still, I get the error message.

Pure Evil Interface v14.zip has to be in the /data folder, it's not there in your screenshot.

I know. I left the folder empty just for the screenshot so people could know I didn't add a file that shouldn't be there that could be causing the error.
Ok, I've done everything as instructed, added the zip to the data folder

and this is what pops up after editing the DataFiles.cfg

Okay, this last screenshot is giving us a new hint - the interface archive is not a .zip file, so obviously a path to xxx.zip is invalid.

Which link did you get the archive from? I just checked couple v14 links and they both were .7z - not sure if the game can read those, so either find a .zip file or extract and repack them.

Wouldn't hurt to try setting the path to data\Pure Evil Interface v14.7z though.

I'll try the re-packing thing right now, but the link I got them from was from the thread in the game tools section, the second link down (not the first one which is an image link, the second one saying v.14 in green bold letters)

That link is a 7zip archive as well.
Either repack it as .zip or set the path to data\Pure Evil Interface v14.7z and check if the game can read those.

Ok, I re-packed it and I didn't get the error message anymore, but the UI isn't showing up, it's still the standard variant.
Do I have to remove the old UI somehow?
I know this comes easily to most people out there but the only other game I've ever modded is Fallout 3 so I am still really new to it.

Hrm, I just repacked it and it's working fine. Make sure there are only 2 folders in the archive file - /art and /fonts.

Or just download a newer version that's already in .zip, v14 is several updates behind - there are 3 newer versions available:

v14 [Suppi v8]
Install:
  • Copy the zip file to your FOnline Reloaded\data folder.
  • Open the DataFiles.cfg with a text editor and add the following line:
    • data\Pure Evil Interface v14 [Suppi v8].zip

  • Note: If you still have the Art & Font folder from a previous version in your data folder, you have to delete them.

Download:
Pure Evil Interface v14 [Suppi v8]
v15

Install
  • Copy the zip file to your FOnline Reloaded\data folder.
  • Open the DataFiles.cfg with a text editor and add the following line:
    • data\Pure Evil Interface v15.zip

Download

v16

Install
  • Copy the zip file to your FOnline Reloaded\data folder.
  • Open the DataFiles.cfg with a text editor and add one of the following lines, depending on which version you want to use.
    • data\Pure Evil Interface v16 (Black).zip
    • data\Pure Evil Interface v16 Stand Alone HP (Black).zip

  • Note: If you still have the Art & Font folder from a previous version in your data folder, you have to delete them.

Download
