fibre farming - bugged?

hey guys just wondering if there's any possible way o farm fibres... i've tried knives on plants at farms and it does nothing......

find brown plants on the map and click on them while having knife in active hand

after gathering few fibres (5 or 10) you have to find new one. or buy/build outpost and harvest them from your base.
