How to detect and disarm traps?

Hi, how do I detect traps? Is it automatic or do I have to actually do something to spot them?

Have high traps skill or PE. Using traps skill can disarm them and having skill can help to spot them, PE will only help with detection. At 1 PE and no traps skill you will not see the traps until you run into them, approx 5-7 PE is comfortable for spotting them if you don't plan to invest in traps skill.
