If you upgrade an item with Traits(e.g. Metal Armor--> Metal MKII), does the 'new' item keep the originals traits? Or is it treated like a newly created item that has a random chance of traits of (or not)?

In case of armors there is a new roll. Weapons keep old bonus when upgraded.

Quick question about the hunting rifle:
bit newbie but, hell, I am new.
I know it uses .223 rounds, and you can make them at gunsmith level 2, but I keep seeing .22 hunter rounds. Can you use them in a .223 rifle? or are the for a different weapon?
Also, do you need a blueprint to make .22 hunter rounds, or can you just not make them? I can't see them in my fixboy.

Only asking instead of buying them outright because I have crap luck with vendor cap restocks (they're always out when I bring stuff to trade) and I am currently saving for something else.

You don't need blueprints to make any ammo, at least of which i know. As for .22 ammo, it was supposed to be removed from game when they changed the hunting rifle to use .223. Before that, the hr used .22 ammo. When you see .22 ammo now, i assume it's leftover from this change.

Ahhh ok. I'm not sure if I can make .223 ammo yet 'cause I am still rather new, maybe it's a small guns requirement thing? Like needing 125 lockpick to make expanded lockpick sets.

You need Profession: Gunsmith (Small Guns): 2 or Profession: Gunsmith (Big Guns): 2 to make .223 ammo

And also here is the wiki for .223 ammo

Noice. Thanks for the info. Thought I'd ask to make certain as some of the wiki stuff is either out of date or not there. Didn't know I could make grenade pistols now.

What is the meaning of this?

1. > "Connecting to server."
2. > "Connection established, authentication..."
3. > "Hexes for spawning are in use, try to enter the game a little bit later."

Someone (maybe you) parked cars where you logged out your character. Move cars then log in.

Or it means people in the spawn point are hogging the hexes so there is no room for you. Wait a while until they move.

Just thought I'd better ask before I commit: I know that, to make a faction base, your faction name has to be registered already (you talk to the DIY base guy, if it's not there he says he hasn't heard of you etc) but, is it safe to use any of the names that are listed on the wiki as available?
What I mean is, if I use a name, and sometime in the past, someone's used the same faction name, will they have access to the base I will construct as well as myself?
Obviously I'm not going to use any of the well known faction names on the list, but I have seen a few I wouldn't mind using.

EDIT- Bugger that. Just tested it, said the name was taken. Should have been obviously really.  :P
