save me father

I'm really not all too sure where to post this, I'm not acclimated to anything yet as I only discovered this two days ago. Two days ago when I was rolling up my first character the server went down, and when I started look around at guides and shit (trying to familiarize myself with the system) I noticed some serious discrepancies between traits, and they were all missing the scavenge skill. I'm guessing the season advanced, so seeing as the semantics of those guides aren't 100% useful anymore, is there any kind of advice those of you that are streetwise can offer me to ensure that I don't make a horrendous decision that'll keep my character from at least being competitive with common hazards?

Firt thing until you start playing is to plan your character properly, do you have any request what char do you want to play? Melee weapon master? Big gunner? Sniper? Sneaky ninja? Laser/Plasma Expert? Burster? Tank?

For a new player, I would recommend Melee or Small Gun burster build.

That was fast ahaha, thanks so much brother.

I was honestly thinking melee, in most CRPG environments melee builds are super straightforward and simple so I'd have less to worry about. In the guides I was consulting H2H was frequently mentioned – is that usual for melee? I remember H2H cost like 2 AP to punch back in Fallout 1 and 2, so it would make sense with how heavy an emphasis there is on the amount of actions you can perform in a round.

Edit: also the heavy handed trait looks stupid broken with the knockdown on every hit unless I'm misunderstanding something
