[mechanics] [minor] Weapon mode kept after companion dropped it
« on: October 01, 2013, 10:53:57 pm »

My companion missed and dropped a plasma rifle.
My char picked it up, and it had "Aimed" mode set. It couldn't be shot with until the mode was manually changed to single shot (my char has a fast shot trait).

it is not a bug, its a good thing that weapons keep their mode even after dropping.

You must have missed the fact that the character in question has a *fast shoot* trait, and should be unable to get into aimed shoot mode at all.

It should be checked when equipped; if a character has a *fast shoot*, it should be reverted to *single shot*.
Simple condition to be added.

i didn't missed a thing, you couldn't shot so it works as intended.

you basically want a script tailored for fast-shot char which is a minor cheat (why not burster have all their weapons picked up changed to burst or snipers changed to aimed?).

topic for closure.

Failsafe mechanism worked.

What I want is a correction of a bug allowing a fast-shot char entering an aimed-mode. Even if it does not allow it to shoot.

Not sure if you are trolling, or have you just bricked your brain.
Fast-shot character should not be able to get a weapon into aimed-mode. That is it. Invalid mode.

I'm asking to have it fixed. No hidden goals.  Also, there is no benefit - and your "burster" mode or "sniper" have no restrictions on firing modes, so your analogies are not analogous. You are committing a straw-man fallacy.

Please explain, how correcting an obvious [minor] bug constitutes a cheat?

Its seariously minor bug and i don't even know if it's possible to fix without stupid changing to set normal mode shoot after drop (what would be stupid for PvP players) or something.

Aye, it is a minor bug, and was marked as such in a topic.

I was thinking it could be corrected on equip attempt -
if a character has a fast-shot trait, set weapon to single shot (reload, or anything other than aimed).

I bet Patric plays a sniper and is afraid to lose weapon settings on a critfail weapon drop. ;)

Anyways, condition check "on equip" would solve it.

This would be an issue if you could shoot the gun in aimed mode, but you couldn't.
I don't even know why waste so many posts on this topic.

Post reply ( Re: [mechanics] [minor] Weapon mode kept after companion dropped it )

It is called a bug report. And I've stated it is a minor one.

exactly Fahrenheit.

@plenty: if you want to know i wanted to avoid what Perteks said (even when i'm not a PvP player...) and it is benefit for your "fast-shot" char: you don't have to manually change mode - if you don't understand that better go play farmville :)

I'm sure I'll never be as good at farmvile as you are, so it is not even worth starting, Patrick.
Enough of ad hominem, I hope.

However, you are unable to understand a simple thing: character with a fastshot should not be able to get into aimed mode in the first place. GET IT? And it normally can't, the only exception is picking up a weapon dropped while in "aim" mode.

Do you think that fast shot chars have to manually rewind through single->aimed->reload?
Do you realize that normally aimed step is omitted?
That the only way for a weapon to get into aimed mode on a fast shot char is to pick up a weapon someone dropped?
That it is a bug?

It is not my fault that you have no idea how fallout mechanics works, but, to put it simple, images encircled with red color should NEVER be seen on one screen:

Disabling a firing mode that SHOULD BE UNAVAILABLE for a fastshot character to start with is a bug fix, not a cheat.

It is a bloody obvious bug, even if a MINOR one, and marked as such.
Furthermore, I have suggested a way of solving it that would not impede you lonely sniper character.

Quote
and it is benefit for your "fast-shot" char: you don't have to manually change mode
Mate, I don't give a crap if a weapon ends up getting a burst, single, or bloody reload setting. 2/3 of the cases require me to change a mode anyway. Furthermore, I've already said that "if a character has a fast-shot trait, set weapon to single shot (reload, or anything other than aimed)." some 3 posts above, so you are lying implying otherwise.

All I care is for a fast shot char NOT to get into aimed mode.

So, please, stop your ad hoc argumentation. I'm reporting a minor bug, bloody simple. You argue for the sake of it. Grow up.

Please stop this absurd flame - I report a bug, that is it. Bugger off.

You are a troll. Insulting, irritating and having absolutely no idea about the game.
I have just checked some of your previous "posts" - does "~pp" command finally works for you?  ;)

Did you even tried to shoot with it and checked how many AP it tooks and if it did hit the aimed body part?...

What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger...
