Survival Guides / Combat Difficulty Staircase
« on: December 20, 2014, 03:08:12 am »
Attention All Newer Players

You want to get tougher, right? You know you need to get more skilled in combat, so here is a list of challenges you should handle. Each player starts this skill journey at a different place. Some guys have trouble beating the Black Claw scorpions, but everyone should press on! Start where you want, and keep at it until you can solo it with authority. Then step up to the next one. Think of this as self-imposed training. When you're ready to begin, solo these in Real-Time mode (listed here in suggested order of difficulty):

You're doing very well once you beat the GR mutie cave quest, but you're not done yet! Expect a tough time at Ares. And everyone dies solo'ing Warehouse a lot - just keep trying. You'll get it. If anyone can do it, then so can you!

For tougher challenges, bring your better gear, crafted with bonus stats including -1AP requirement. Remember, this list is all PvE. The real challenge is PvP, but climbing this PvE staircase might help get you there.

Closed suggestions / Translator
« on: November 08, 2014, 06:05:07 pm »
A new implant called Verbal Translator. It brings your INtelligence to 5 for purposes of talking in-game. All my best characters have low IN and i'm sick of my fighters always talking like morons. That feature is cute, but this idea would at least give us a way to fix it.

Availability: i do not want to interfere with the current availability of existing implants, so maybe this one implant could be sold by a merchant for a ton of caps. 500k?

You liqe? Me glad. Then yoo go fith me forum post reply.

Closed suggestions / Power Armor Training
« on: October 18, 2014, 05:47:11 pm »
Add this item (Technical Manual) to the game. (I think this was available in a wall safe when you bought a bunker base, earlier in 2238 but not any more), and require a character to read this like a skill book in order to use Power Armor.

You can still find and collect PA all you want (if you can!) but to use PA you need to read this book first.

The Technical Manual could be found in various places like Glow, Sierra, certain Special Encounters, TC lockers (as rare as implants), Reno, Warehouse, maybe even random footlockers with blueprints (as rare as gatling lasers).

Find a PA? Great! But learn how to use it first.

Closed suggestions / Remove TC Windows
« on: September 23, 2014, 04:11:17 am »
Since we're just coasting until wipe anyway, can you please remove the TC windows from Redding and Broken Hills and let us have a shot at those towns? The time windows simply do not allow us any chance as it is. More action.

General Game Discussion / Finding no loot in Reno?
« on: September 13, 2014, 02:54:01 pm »
If you're not finding anything in the New Reno "magic box", try not camping it. Exit to the world map, wait for 15 minutes and then run in and check again. I don't care what anyone says in replies to this - i and my friends have tested it many times:

You find loot more often in Reno when you wait on map than you do if you wait inside Commercial.

Test it and see. Tell me i'm wrong all you want - i know i'm right.

And more details...

-Use the FallCraft.zip file to add a large green circle to the ground that surrounds closed footlockers. With this, you'll be able to see from preview (without entering Commercial) if the locker is closed.
-Wait the equivalent of 2 spawn cycles to increase chance to find loot. A common theory is the box auto-closes based on two triggers, not just one: 1 is loot spawn sure, but 1 is just a timer.
-Even with these advantages, don't expect loot every time. When i started checking this locker, i was camping the locker room inside and never found ANYTHING. But once i made these changes described above, well...i have a nice pile of special gear in my Reno tent now including Power Armor, Hardened Power Armor, Power Helmets, Hardened Power Helmets, Unique guns, rare uncraftable ammo, pulse rifle, Bozars, Gauss rifles, frag mines, Hypos, a wrench that someone put there to troll me lol, etc.

Closed bugs / [Mechanic]Ares rope trigger(low)
« on: September 07, 2014, 12:44:48 am »
I've been to Ares many times and run past the rope and other times used the rope to go inside. I never saw this problem until today.

Me and friends went there, had a blast lol. But 3 times today we saw something odd. One of us was running past the rope and was suddenly surprised to find himself standing inside level 1. We assumed he clicked the rope by mistake. Then it happened to another one of us and then it happened to me. I know someone is messing with Ares because some things seem to be slightly changed lately (like missing rocket mutie under the lower-right fence) but this rope bug needs to be fixed for sure.

Game Help / Br Martin's Info on Tape!
« on: September 07, 2014, 12:35:34 am »
Brother Martin asked me to announce the official launch of his Digital Library.

In an effort to help all players, especially newer ones, to climb this world's learning curve a little faster, Brother Martin is making his holotape collection available to whomever can benefit from its info.

INFORMATION ON TAPE

When you get a holotape from Brother Martin, "USE" it and its info will be uploaded to your Pip-Boy. Then check your Pip-Boy Archives to view the record. Over 30 subjects are represented on these tapes, all supported by The Miners, a private faction that produces a wide range of survival gear.

Br Martin's Holotape Library Index
Tape 001: DONE 1995 - Welcome Warning
Tape 002: DONE 1967 - Rules
Tape 003: DONE 1959 - Config Options
Tape 004: DONE 1992 - Getting Started

Tape 031: DONE 1988 - About Damage

Most of this is info straight from the wiki, and is thus very handy to have in-game. Need a reminder about which factors affect Hit Chance? Want to review which guns have weapon perks? Need to know where to get a Support Perk? Look it up in your Pip-Boy without having to open a browser.

Standard Procedure
Find Brother Martin healing people at the Hub and ask him about his tapes - he'll be glad to share. He does not carry all 30 tapes around all the time, so tell him which tapes you already have or which ones you want. When he drops a tape on the ground, grab it, load it and drop it. He will drop a 2nd tape and grab the one you dropped. Meanwhile you grab the 2nd one and the two of you can go back and forth like that until you have all 30 if you can stand it.

Watch for New Tapes Next Season
Tape 032: PLANNED 0000 - Companions
Tape 033: PLANNED 0000 - Banks
Tape 034: PLANNED 0000 - Homesteaders

Tape 097: DONE 1058 - Reloaded Server
Tape 098: PLANNED 0000 - Server Wipes
Tape 099: PLANNED 0000 - Donations

Own Your Own Copy
If you would like to own a complete set of Br Martin's tape library, you can. You can use these to help newer members of your faction, recruits, or just a friend struggling for a foothold in the wasteland. Bring 40 blank tapes to Br Martin and he will exchange them for 30 tapes loaded with all of his works.

Where to Get Tapes
-You get 2 tapes from a message quest that starts in Necropolis and goes to Gecko and back
-You get 1 tape from a message quest in NCR that goes to Vault City
-Buy a tape at the Boneyard Library for 500 caps (limit 1 tape at a time with a timer)
-Buy tapes at Den or Gordon's Gas Station for usually only 60 caps

Bugs / (Quest)Oil Disappears on Stranded Rust[medium]
« on: August 20, 2014, 12:04:00 am »
When we are holding multiple oil cans during the Klamath tanker quest, and use oil to fix the red valve, all Oil Cans get used at once!

Bugs / [Item]Access Card(low)
« on: August 13, 2014, 11:01:51 pm »
When you find the newer Special Encounter, the military bunker with the implant, you find some key cards, one of which is red. The text description of this red key card is "Infirnary access card" with an 'n'.

I'm sure this should be "Infirmary Access Card" with an 'm'.

Closed suggestions / Repair Option
« on: August 13, 2014, 02:40:51 am »
Sometime before, we could only repair an item by using another item like it. It was like Fallout 3 where you combine damaged items to get a single better item. While i like that in Fallout 3, i was glad we got rid of it here.

The way it is now i think is better, where we rely on Repair skill and don't need a matching item. But we can only repair the left number, not the right number.

This suggestion is to add a way to also increase the right-most value, by combining like items. So the way it is now, stays the way it is now and suggestion allows a way to improve overall condition.

Closed suggestions / [Mechanics] Reset Companion Orders (low)
« on: July 24, 2014, 03:19:15 am »
Suggestion is to reset (delete) last companion orders whenever we return to the world map. As it is now, if i go to Hub main gate and tell them where to "move to" up there, then leave and enter via Market area, they start moving north to where i last told them to go at the main gate. I guess this means we have to give them new orders quickly.

So this problem would be solved if these kinds of orders were cancelled whenever we/they hit the map.

Closed suggestions / Female Character Limit...
« on: July 07, 2014, 11:43:07 pm »
So many guys choose a female character for PvP because the image is slimmer and thus harder to hit. There is no downside to this (yet) so i propose female characters have menstrual cycles.

Every so often (who knows when!), their AG goes down by 2, CH is forced to 1, ST goes up by 2, vision narrows (Sight goes down by 20 hexes), Close Combat goes up by 100, no NPCs will follow them, and they cannot lead anyone on the map. Oh and their speech in the text bar becomes nearly irrational.

Closed suggestions / Meat for Jerky
« on: July 01, 2014, 01:55:13 am »
As it is now...

1) There is only 1 butcher table (that i can find) in the entire wasteland in towns, and
2) It takes 2 meat slices to make 1 strip of smoked meat jerky.

These suggestions are to...

1) Add butcher tables in more places, in more towns, as the people there would not all keep going all the way to Modoc for this - they'd have their own. (And i fear such resources are being removed from bases with wipe), and

2) Fix formula so 1 slab of beefy meat would become 1 strip of smoked meat jerky. Yes the jerky weighs less, but it should be 1:1 as in RL.

Suggestions / Buy Beer in 6-Pack or Case
« on: June 21, 2014, 11:59:46 pm »
As it is now, we buy beer 1 at a time (unless there is a way i don't know).

Need a faster way to stock up on beer in bulk. 6-packs or a case of 24.
