General Game Discussion / Re: BRING BACK SESSION 2

We're working on some nifty stuff to get everybody back, don't worry.

Well, to be fair, most of us don't want the old players back. We're happier without you. But thanks for popping your heads in once in a while to vocalize the fact that we've successfully removed you from the community.

I was hoping somebody else would do the honours, but there you are. Just trying to help :)

Is this the same nifty stuff that lost most of your playerbase? Just enquiring.

No, that was "The wipe that's gonna remake reloaded" - to be fair we can't deny it delivered exactly what was promised. It was remade from being an active server to being a dead server.

1. Good idea but it won't happen.
2. There is already a server out there with Season 2 conditions and nobody is playing that because whatever is going on in fonline, crying on reloaded forum is top priority.

sorry but you can't deny significant drop in player's base since AA, Khans, Hawks and others left/stopped playing.

November average hits 44 players.

this is 50% drop.

You can say whatever you want, this cannot be denied unless you're a complete ignorant.

There is no need for the devs to deny anything, they can simply continue to pretend it has not happened or was all part of the plan or whatever.

As I see it they tried to "fix" things they perceived as broken - mainly noobs losing gear and people using hex bot without consideration to how these things contributed to the learning curve and motivation of the player base. On no loot there was even a test in the middle of last session which confirmed players would drop off like nobody's business if it was brought in. It's worth considering that no loot was enabled with the knowledge that this would happen.

However, even if another server with all those conditions people claim to miss started up tomorrow, nobody would play it as it's much more fun to demand the devs fix reloaded than to simply move on.

This is just the beginning of the future of FOnline. Have faith.

The future isn't what it used to be.

Maybe the eventual blessing in disguise to come out of this will be that people might actually give Aftertimes a chance when it eventually returns instead of not playing reloaded and hanging around the forum crying about wipe.

Well, now we've had the legendary wipe and it should be out of everybody's system now, I know some people have problem-solved by playing FOnline2 so maybe we can all make the leap to giving new servers a chance too.

Nothing new or constructive here and plenty of posts already exist dissecting this sessions short comings in intricate detail, there was no need to start another for any reason other than attention. Nobody gave a fuck when you did play, this has not changed with wipe.

Looks like you give a fuck when  i post at least. Define your stance cause makes you look like a dumb bitch. I couldn’t expect more from a guy who played with bye son

Nah, not at all. I'm just bored at work and remembered how funny you are when you get triggered. And my stance is you said jack shit that hasn't already been said with more substance and better english.

I completely disagree that this session is friendlier to new players, I realise that this was probably the intention but I don't think the current set up keeps people interested whether they are a new player or time-served PvP ape. I no longer play but when I started out I found the fact that I could lose everything so easily a motivator rather than a deterrent (after the initial rages and adjustment of expectations, of course). Last session I was farming and crafting every spare moment I had, this session I felt comfortable with 3 sets of gear for fights that rarely happened.

And in the long void between fights, what can you do?

*Quests - Sure, if you want.
*Dungeons - Just need a small team who don't mind burning 1000s of ammo for a unique M60
*Farm Locations - Same again, gear is slightly better but you can still get better stuff on caravan.
*Crafting - You could invest your time gathering materials for the chance of crafting some statted gear, or you could just do caravan.

When I started out this was a very different game to what it has become - there were fights large and small everywhere  and that, in my opinion was what kept the game alive. Taking your crafted gear to an unguarded town to barter and running into another player - fighting on a level playing field. But then for some reason we needed militia to guard the unguarded towns and that was the end of that, unless you call one autist from the controlling faction camping the town in bluesuit PvP.

And then the removal of hexing, I don't understand it unless the intention was to make the game harder and less accessible to a solo player. I know, naming no names - they all know who they are, that it was abused with hexbots etc but hexing was one thing could even the odds in any fight whether PvP or PvE and now you absolutely must have a team behind you in order to do anything that isn't caravan and given that a majority of players in the server were not part of the larger PvP factions I think it's pretty obvious what killed the server.

learning to avoid getting killed is part of the games learning curveand a lot of the time when you are new it is because you are doing something wrong and/or not learning from mistakes.

yeah, but now there is a learning curve, right? You just forgot how it feels to be a noob. You don't know anything, you haven't visited 95% of the locations, you realized you need some junk to craft your first shotgun aaand, now you need to learn how to avoid being killed? On this stage it's a lot easier for you to ragequit the game and be done with it.

On the other hand, when you have your t2 intact and start learning about t3, it's a good time to make occasional PK happen.

I haven't forgotten anything, learning the way I described was both interesting and fun and I think it detracts from the whole experience of the game to have the sharp edges taken off. However I understand that some players see this more of a roleplay/post apocalyptic-facebook type of affair and PvP is spoiling that, which was why I suggested no loot protection up to level 24 was a good compromise.

Nice ideas but I don't think such an elaborate system is needed. As I said on another post all it needs is no drop up to level 24 and then full loot. Getting killed matters little at the moment. I don't think noob protection is necessarily a good thing - learning to avoid getting killed is part of the games learning curveand a lot of the time when you are new it is because you are doing something wrong and/or not learning from mistakes.

I have adjustd to the no loot thing better than I thought I would but I still don't like it. I think with all the new features added (quests, ways to generate caps etc) it makes even more sense for this session to be full loot than even the previous one.

Surely if making things safe for new players is important (debatable) then a compromise of no loot from players below level 24 is the way forward?

I don't think TB fights are going to be much of a thing at all this session but if you want to make any kind of spammer I'd suggest not going with 1 luck,  the more you shoot, the more chance you have to miss and therefore more chance to critical miss and you tend to get the worse effects with just 1 luck.
