The Thunderdome / A Very Brief History Of Fallout Online.
« on: December 18, 2018, 10:21:17 pm »
A very brief history of Fallout Online.
In 1988, Interplay Productions released Wasteland, a post-apocalypse CRPG.
Plans for follow ups were canceled, but in 1997 Interplay released Fallout, in which the PC, known as the Vault Dweller, is sent to recover a part needed for the survival of Vault 13. They discover the great plot of the Master’s plan to convert all of humanity’s survivors into Mutants via FEV. The Vault Dweller defeats the Master.
In 1998, Fallout 2 is released. This too was a stand-alone game, where the grand daughter of the Vault Dweller is sent to recover a part necessary for the survival of Arroyo, the village the Vault Dweller built after the fall of the Master. She discovers her grandmother’s old nemesis’ shadow, as a human faction called Enclave has discovered the FEV virus and developed a retro virus that will kill anyone infected with FEV. Chosen One defeats the enclave at an oil platform off the Oregon coast.
In 2001, Interplay released Fallout; Tactics, a mixed standalone/multiplayer in which the PC, a Brotherhood Of Steel initiate, must return order to the Midwest and defeat both a traitor within the BOS and an pre-war supercomputer bent of restoring the wastes. (Wait, what? Just go with it, I didn’t create it.) The game could be played either in single player or multiplayer mode by the player’s preference.

Somewhere between the release of FO2 and FO;T, about a dozen gamers started experimenting with making FO2 into a multi-player game. This eventually became Fallout Online (FOOL) also referred to as Fallout 2238, as the game was eventually set in the year 2238. In 2012, FOOL.net shuttered their offices citing “exhaustion.” Before doing so, CVET released FOOL 2238’s source code; Several people saved the files, including Kilgore, who established Reloaded, originally put out as an unmodified version of 2238’s last source code.

BTW, a pound is a pound is a pound. Steel or feathers, it’s the same weight.

Toxic Caves / TB-41 Semiauto Anti-Tank Rifle.
« on: December 16, 2018, 11:02:12 pm »
This video got me to thinking; could we do something like this?
The gun itself is mobile furniture; you use it, it pops up a red targeting reticle, and... Well, you shoot it. Reloading requires using ammo on the gun (like refueling a car). Moving the gun requires using the tow hitch area of the carriage, at which point it follows you around like a dog might, but rather more specifically and precisely (won't run ahead of you, just follow you exactly at say your 4 o'clock point)....
Well?

Closed suggestions / Pens As Stabbing Weapons
« on: December 14, 2018, 10:43:21 pm »
Thrust only, 1-2 dmg, 4 AP's, 50% deterioration rate, craftable, can be bought from medical professionals, or stolen (automatic success, but 0 xp). Base price: 3 caps for 5 pens. "Mostly good for starting a fight, not so much for ending it."

And based on a true story.

EDIT; when I wrote this I was pretty high on tramadol, but looking at it sober..... maybe it's not all a bad idea..... mostly for the lol factor.

1. Protip; don't work at a hospital with a psych unit.
2. If you ignore rule #1, then make sure fighting psych patients are kept well the fuck away from each other.

Right hand broken in 2 places, left arm broken, jaw fractured, and three superficial stab wounds (left arm, left breast, abdomin).

Oh, and 3, medical pens make REALLY BAD stabing weapons. Maybe add that to suggestions as a joke......

Game Help / ASUS TF300T?
« on: December 12, 2018, 01:58:34 am »
Will an ASUS 300T run the game? I don't think it will, but I have one (hand-me-down), and my girlfriend "could" use it to play when I'm home without one of us going to my father in law's place.

Closed suggestions / Add radios to all helmets.
« on: December 08, 2018, 07:20:16 am »
Add radios to all helmets. Maybe make a radio part of the process.
This is a Russian Tanker's helmet, a little more advanced than the WWI era skull cap used as "Leather Helmet" (when it shouldn't be giving ANY protection from injury), but really not that much. What it shows though is the earphones of a radio set (with hearing protection as well, that's the main reason why they're the size of baseballs).

General Game Discussion / Stuck on BSH......
« on: December 07, 2018, 04:45:10 am »
So I just finished BSH, and now I'm stuck..... is that the end of it? I allied the NCR and BOS, and it's like they're all done, go home now. I tried talking to the ghoul in Bakersfield vault (he's still saying "come back in a couple days"), tried the mailman (he had nothing, coming or going), tried the chaplain in cathedral (rather LOUD and bit SPRY for A DEAD MAN), I'm out of ideas...... Anyone?

One of the servers had an option to have children. I thought it was AOP, but I'm not sure.

Suggestions / California water wars.
« on: November 30, 2018, 11:53:59 pm »
This is based on a real issue......
California for decades has had a proposal for the 'periphrial canal,' a 2,000-ish mile canal to steal Sacramento River water for SoCal use.
Imagine for a senod the canal got built (devs could take Lander's Point gecko grounds, just remove the trees and current critters, then add a broken pump by one of the bridges).
Junktown wants the pump station to STAY broken; Hub wants it repaired. Both sides will offer you a job (not much money, say 200 caps, a tool, and maybe a couple stimpacks, plus a few XP, but a lot of positive rep in the town). The opposite village doesn't care, their issue is the town.
You can resolve it two ways; The first way is of course to KILL EVERYONE THERE, in which case you become vilified by that village, but you get the XP and loot.
The second way is to just wait a few minutes and everyone will go away on their own. Then just repair the pump (to restore it or break it, or even maybe both?) and get your XP.
