Yes, you can still find blueprints in lockers.

News and Announcements / Re: 3rd Session Info
« on: September 04, 2017, 02:44:34 am »
I am somewhere between ambivalent and happy with most of the changes this season. I have been playing on and off since early in 2238, and I think that one of the things that keeps me coming back over the years is the thrill I get when players interact. I have vivid memories about the thrill of success and failure in Fonline. I don't get that with other games. I think implementing no-drop system is a mistake because it changes one of the core concepts that makes this game special.

I don't agree with the argument that losing your items does not matter because everything will go away eventually. I think the science is in about players valuing temporary digital things. I personally value those things proportionately to my experience within the game. For example, when I play Super Mario Bros. I value 1ups for the length of the game. It is true that after the game is done I no not value them, but during the game the loss of a 1up can slightly upset me just as much as earning one can slightly make me happy. I recognize that no-drop is not an evil thing, however, I believe the price paid for it in loss of immersion and exciting game play is too high.

I would also like to address this:

"But we'll keep working on game and changing what's necessary. This time we wanted to check something totally different and see how it works. "

Thanks for this. This is important, and it is a good reason to try something like no-drop. I may disagree with the developer(s) on this topic, but I recognize that there are valid and logical arguments for it, and that I may be wrong. I am very appreciative for all the work they do.

News and Announcements / Re: Server wipe.

I planned my day around this wipe. There is a delay, OK, that's a bummer, but whatev.

But please, Kilgore. Tell us if there will be another season. I was convinced there would be, even after your initial post, but you seem to be getting sentimental. Please don't fuck with us. I need to know where to be in 8 hours. Will there be any point in me being in front of my computer??

I know you don't owe us shit, I know it is the opposite. But please, level with us. Many of us are adults that have our lives on hold because of this wipe. I need to make plans.

General Game Discussion / Re: Dual logging in caravan

So, this just happened... http://i.imgur.com/9RN8G7t.jpg

I thought it was odd that there were 2 or 3 unarmed blue suits in our party standing still when we ran in to some ghouls.  Out of nowhere here comes grizzan with a gatling laser.  I tried running fearing retaliation from the caravan guards, but did not get away, obviously.  Then I realized what the blue suits were about.  With fewer guards there was much less retaliation for the tk.  So anyway, I guess I am done with caravans for a while.  I was having a pretty good time, but if this is what we do with it, I'm not interested.  I was digging the teamwork aspect with folks I could meet and not join a faction.  One more feature falls to the trolls.

"PvP is whenever one player interacts competitively with another player."

We all saw what you typed.  Did you see what we typed?

Also, you are making it PvP.  Even if your argument is that it is not supposed to be, you have proved that it can be.

Seki, your observations are valuable and valid.  Your method of alerting the community to the mechanical shortcomings of caravans is disappointing.  When you see a problem you should report it, not exploit it at the expense of others.

I have seen you post things in the suggestions and bugs section of this forum, so I know you know what's up.

About dual logging not giving advantage in a caravan if just using it to loot... It very much gives you an advantage.  While I am on caravan I am almost constantly healing, reloading, and using science skill.  Those things take ap and require you to stand still.  While your combat alt is doing these things your loot alt could run around and take all the things.  Another advantage is if your combat alt dies, your loot alt can recover your stuff and continue to loot after you are dead.  In addition your loot alt is taking a guard slot.  One that is usually armed and fighting.  Your loot alt reduces combat effectiveness of the entire caravan, which directly effects other players.

I'm surprised an apparently intelligent individual such as yourself can miss these vectors.  I hope these points were overlooked rather than intentionally omitted.

The Thunderdome / Caution: UV on caravans
« on: May 15, 2015, 03:42:29 am »
So UV, this is the kind of folks you recruit and outfit?  Real classy.

I told him to quit looting while a fight was going on.  He burst me down point blank with 2 bursts in the back 1st thing on the encounter after that.  Maybe I hurt his pride?

This is the first time I have had a problem on a caravan with another player, so that means most of you are cool.  But if you see Deadpool in your party, watch out.  He never said a word except when we were joking a bit when we left the NCR, and I never attacked him.

If you find yourself in a caravan with him I suggest offing him before he offs you, or at least keeping your distance.

Included are some screenshots for your enjoyment.

"Can you take a look at Fonline.log for error details?"

I am not much of a technophile, but surprisingly I thought of that.  Unfotunatly was unable to locate it.  Tips here are appreciated.

"Tell us first what OS your computer use?"

In retrospect, clearly I should have just posted this from the beginning.  I use Windows 7 (ultimate).

At fist I did out of habit, and it did not work.  Although I guess I should point out that the grey screen hung for a while the first time I tried.  It is only every time after that I have gotten the result described in my original post.

My buddy says his client is running like a top, and all he did was open the foline.exe after unzipping.  It is my understanding that those files, or the equivalent, are provided in the full client download.

But I tried again anyway, same result.

Thanks for the quick response anyway stalker.  Good to see the same folks are still around.

Game Help / Unable to get client to work.
« on: October 11, 2013, 12:55:49 am »
I played quite a bit of 2238, so I am somewhat familiar with how this is supposed to work.

I unzipped the full client, but when I open the foline.exe or folinegl.exe I just get a grey screen for less than a second.  It fails to start.

If anyone has had this same problem, or if a dev can help out I would be super grateful.  I can't figure what to do next.
