Title: Sniper Rifle vs. XL70

As my sniper is approaching the level of usefulness, I'm trying to determine which weapon to throw all my time and resources at crafting.

At the moment the clear winner is the XL70. It doesn't require a blueprint, has a burst mode, higher capacity, and in single shot mode the damage and range are identical. The ammo stats are clearly different, but not so different to make one clearly superior.

Am I missing something, or is the Sniper Rifle obsolete at the moment?

Let's assume we are firing at a level 1 player who wears just a metal armor.

For XL70 with 5mm AP:
(-2+[20,40]*(2/3))*(100+35-25)/100 == [12.46,27.13]
For XL70 with 5mm JHP:
(-2+[20,40]*(2/1))*(100-35-25)/100 == [15.2,31.2]
For Sniper rifle:
(-2+[20,40]*(1/1))*(100+30-25)/100 == [18.9,39.9]

Formula:
(-DR_Threshold_from_armor + DMG_range_from_weapon * DMG_adj_from_ammo) * (100 - DR_from_ammo - DR_from_armor)/100

Paco,

Armor can't go into the negatives.  Minimum of 0.

AP ammo for 5mm also have a DT divider of 3.

Sniper Rifle has Long Range (Double perception toHit bonus) whilst XL70 has Accurate (+20 toHit)

Also the ability to burst must be taken into account, as it adds a bit more versatility to the weapon. This is good even for an aimed shot build IMO.

I'll pull the script and double check everything in-game a little later when I have time, but raw numbers aren't the only argument to consider here. I was hoping for some opinions and possibly a little discussion about other players experiences on top of what I can do with a calculator.

blueprint aside, i think XL should be something in-between SR and AR. right now it seems too powerfull.

it uses AR ammo, so i don't know why it has damage of SR. for starters 17-30 should be ok.

that way it's still better than AR but doesn't make SR or HPFA obsolete (but is better overall). SR is only better for specialized builds (but less universal anyway).
