Title: How to get a companion?
Post by: Sotilis on January 19, 2015, 11:37:17 pm
Hey guys!

I hope someone can help me, because I cannot recruit any companion.

When I talk to travellers in bars and other places where they appear, they only tell me what weapons they are using and no more dialog options.

My char has:

-6 int
-10 cha
-118% speech
-perk from New Reno
-Good Natured perk
-193 Party Points
-XP LvL 12

Am I missing something?

Tried to look up WIKI but it doesn't have any info on getting companions.

You don't have the loner perk by chance?
Type ~pp and see if you already have your pp filled up. A companion costs 100, so maybe you have one and forgot?
Other than that I have no idea. :/ Maybe your char is bugged.

I don't have loner, but I got Good natured.

I used the command to see my pp and it displays:

40/243 party points used.

So it means i have 203 more party points left.

Tried to talk this guy, I followed him from the Hub entrance when he appeared.

It happens when:
- you don't have 12 lvl, or
- you don't have enough of free party points, or
- you have Loner trait.

Check again, must be one of these.

Hmm he mentioned hes already lvl12
Have 243pp he used up 40 out of it!
And he also mentioned he is not loner!

Worth a try to check the character out. Maybe some bug?

Oh dear, my char is lvl 11

So that must be the problem, gonna level it quick to 12 to try it out.

Okay it's working now.

Had no idea that lvl 12 was needed.

Thanks for the help!

there should be some dialog/message indicating to players when they are low lvl / not enough party points.. it would be cool as one of first steps to see some info in game too then just rely only on forum/wiki

now players which didnt seen that change in changelog has no idea why they cant recrut them, it doesnt makes sense that there is no dialog/info in game then just "walk away"

If you have low PP the npc should say something like "You're kinda creepy, no thanks" and for low level call them immature. Haha
