My faction (we are that small, btw) has several bases, and we planned to build several more, but we're talking about not building any if "wipe" really is as bad as it sounds..... Any (generally correct) answers please....

Wipe is when the data tables are purged and so we all start over with no characters, no cars, no bases, no piles of items etc. It is the total restart of a new season of the game where all players start over from scratch. Such is only needed when there are new enhancements that are too non-compliant with existing data (and data structures) to attempt a typical update which would force-fit things together that the devs can clearly see won't fit well.
Here is an example: back in 2238 we did not have helmets, but the devs were working on adding a helmet slot (and thus helmet items) to the game. This also required re-working how eye/head shot mechanics work with certain perks (i think). This was the kind of enhancement that requires a wipe because the way it was did not combine well with the way it would be, and thus a new season of 2238 began. Quick! Build a tent! lol
The alternative to this is a conversion, where the devs have to labor even harder to somehow invent conversion scripts so that existing data can be re-organized for compatibility with new enhancements. Devs are already too busy as it is - this would take too much time and work, so the easy way is to "wipe" it all out, and everyone starts over from scratch, "even Steven".
I hate wipes. All the work we do building up everything gets erased. Argh. In theory, a game project like this suffers fewer wipes over time as the game gets refined and improved. I'm hoping we don't ever see a wipe in Reloaded since 5 more years of new maps and quests could be added to flesh out the already-awesome game we have now.

Is there maybe a way to give establishe dplayer a jump start? Like, character +stats (level, hp, skills, etc) and bank account? Otherwise, it sounds like..... uhm... it's not worth staying.....

I don't get people being scared of wipe. Actually first 1-2 months after wipe is best time during session. So much to do and usually the most people online at that time.

A wipe is needed for all online role-playing games, without a WIPE the gsame eventually gets boring because no new stuff aadded, if You have noticed the people who have been playing a long time look forward to the wipes.
Think of it this way. The wipe is like a new year, New beginning, fresh starts, New adventure, New things to do, more people, better fun.
If the wipe was soon it would be aannounced, personaly I can't see it being anytime soon.
Everyone starts again so don't worry man it's actually fun and because u have faction u can all do it together restarting

I think sessions should be long, as that mean more time for developers and better chance for better features after wipe.

A wipe is nothing more than a non-compatible update, which consequently starts a new season. The amount of new content with a wipe is comparable to the amount of new content with an update, so the pie-in-the-sky portrayal by pro-wipists with rose-colored glasses is a gross mis-perception of the facts. Wipe doesn't do anything good for anyone - as i said, it's a cheap fast or lazy way to implement certain enhancements (the enhancements are good, but the wipe itself is not). In fact, as far as player data goes, it's one big full giant step backwards all the way to zero. No characters, all that leveling you did, all that mining and all that crafting...your cars and bases and piles of gear, all the caps you worked so hard to get and all the drugs you amassed through trades and Barter...all gone. How anyone could like this is beyond me but i have a theory: they hate it too, but they choose to deal with it in a classic way: denial. Denial never changes...

Very good text, but I think there is also other reason than denial. I don't play Reloaded much as I used to be, I help this server with wiki updates and bug finds.

Sometimes wipe is needed. The changes that are gonna be made with it are going to bring some people back and maybe new players as well. Ofcourse not everybody is ok with that. All the farming... starting fom 0...etc. But its gonna be ok. Wipe is needed in the near future 8)

LoL , HOW people have such amounts of epic items ? I am BoS memebr, 40 lvl and with 3 peoples party we cannot kill super mutants remnants patrol,but this(on picture) looks like cheats.TC Lockers are non justice thing for all players :s As 40 lvl i couldnt do anything to improve my character : d ,so how you got or where this stuff : d??? For normal players (without support/admin/etc friends) ,getting better after 24 lvl (and better gear) is impossible.(If you are not tank class [250hp+] ,you are nothing : d)
Even as crafter with mostly all recipes :s

you know the guy above has 10x your lvl ? ^^ and is probably playing 10 times longer than you. also he is in a strong faction.. and while looting permanent warehouse or new reno you can easily get that stuff. so nothing about cheats..he also bought much of those stuff from players so dont worry, all right there.

Sure right,strong faction at now is basic for "interesting gameplay".But i think that after wipe some things should change,i think that small playing groups(2,3)need some help in improving and AC,HP ,leveling should get upgrade :s i faied with dodger and lifewire have 40lvl + and all 24lvl Big gunner (10 end 10 str) could kill me EASLY (250hp+ vs 189 hp) :s . In PvP HP is basic,and there is no way than being in strong faction for upgrading yours character PVP "abilities". You know even if i will get 100 lvl i couldnt improve char(repairs faults) after 24 lvl.Only way = implants - ungettable for me as BoS member and playing with (2-3) peoples party :d.

UV has quite a few fully implanted chars. We have like 2-3 such chars... Who don't always play at the same time.
And yes I agree. Implants should be WAY less accessible. There should be no GM auctions for implants and implants should NOT spawn in NR/WH/TC lockers.
Implants should be available ONLY from really hard and long dungeons. This way you won't meet so many heavily implanted characters

When blueprints were first introduced (late in 2238), they were very rare, hard to find. Very cool feature but over time their presence in the game evolved. Now, we can buy them. In fact, when i go locker hunting, i find blueprints at a rate that feels fair - i think it is well-balanced now with Reloaded's changes.
And when i hunt lockers, i very rarely find oil cans, less common than blueprints.
So i suggest looking at implants the other way around; consider this great new feature to be somewhat similar to blueprints, which evolved into an item that, while still rare, can be found at a fair rate over time with enough effort. Consider adding implants to random lockers to be found as rarely as oil cans. In all this time of playing, i have only found 18 oil cans and that is after a TON of intense searching for blueprints. If i had found 18 implants by now, i would still not have enough of them; i would still be avidly hunting in need of more (for multiple characters), but at least i would have some and probably a few characters fully upgraded.
As it is now though, their rarity seems too intense. I have never once found one. I have only 2, and this is after gaining over 10 million combined experience points of play time: 1 was purchased via player trade, and 1 was given to me as a gift!
So as it goes with all new, cool features, time tells the tale of balance. This part of the story is a sad, slow struggle just to get enough implants for a single fighter. I suggest upping implant findability. Keep them non-purchasable, but add to random lockers, more rare than blueprints (like oil cans). This is how our current implant-unfairness can be softened a little bit. The big gangs will still have more (via TC) but any solo player can get there with enough time and effort. Otherwise, the chasm between newer/soloish players and the big gangs will remain too wide.

Difference is : hunting locker on wm is pretty much dangerless. You have very few chance of fighting other players and losing your stuff. Go to PvP in New Reno and Warehouse, it's almost impossible (or was) to be there and encounter no one. I also don't understand why you would want a fully upgrade char if you play alone. You will always lose vs gang.

I don't play alone except when my friends are offline. And either way, why would i be content with not getting implants when i know implants are in the game being used by so many players? I might play alone a lot, but ultimately it's only to get more ready for PvP.

They should not be easy botted.
I manage to find around 30 oil cans in month being developed. But still are "locker" items I didn't find.
You can get implants now from Old Military Base. It is hard to find and still can be make solo( two shitty builds using fastrelog, maybe someone with good build could do this without fast relog)
But my Master agree with you, there should be more ways to get implants for solo players, not easy of course.

First thing is they are too easy to get not BBS will control ALL of them after wipe...
2nd after update with these lockers pepoles start to fastrelogging and duallogin in this places.
And last is speedrun on bluesuit....

Pourquoi ne pas faire des event quotidien à des heures aléatoire ( de vrai jours ) où on peut avoir des implants comme sa le PVP serai forcer car attendre 3H qu'un implants pope dans un casier est chiant :'( alors quand avoir 1 a 100% dans un laps de temps de 10-15 minute c'est mieux 8)
