Title: "Epic" bursts.

So I'm using the Avenger Minigun. Two bursts per round, sometimes up to 1800 damage on nomal enemies. However, when I was fightng a player sometime ago, my burst was dealing him about 25 damage...I was using the normal JHP ammo then. Yesterday I was using the armor piercing (AP) ammo and was shooting a guy from about x hexes (10 < x < 20) and my bursts delivered about 60 damage. Is my build that horrible, or do they have some epic armor? (both were wearing Combat Armor, but dunno about perks and drugs)

I assume you got all BRD perks?
Anyway, welcome to the world of tanks :P

adrenaline rush +/- toughness + even tougher + psycho + beer +/- implants

depends on target DT and DR, you probably attacked tank or you just missed most of bullets
do you have BRD/MRD ?

How do you hit mob for 1800 and player for 36. So you onehexed ghoul and then tried to kill tank from 40 hex lawl.

you need BRD (bonus range damage perks) and MRD (more range damage perk) for avenger. with those perks you will do a lot more damage. not 700 per burst, but something like 100. like seki says, depending on the target DT/DR.

Of course I have all those perks. I assume those were just tanks. Combat armor gives 40% normal DR. Give +5% for Toughness and +10% for Even tougher. 55%. Gives +15% for Psycho. 70%. AP ammo gives -35% DR mod. That's 35% DR. This isn't that much maybe...unless they drink beer.

Yes, probably 75% + Adrenaline rush. and dont forget the DT.

Yeah, treshold is probably a big issue when using Avenger bursts (19-22 damage per round, but 40 rounds...)

You have to one hex with avenger, shooting from far most of your bullets dont hit the target so you cant say 40 bullets * 18 = 600 damages. Its most likely 10-15 bullets from ur 40 actually hit the guy and with all the perkrs he had = the damage you saw.

Well, just a second ago I've managed to kill a guy in Combat Armor MKII from about 10 hexes. Managed to OHKO him with 200+ damage. So I suppose my previous enemies just had crazy DR and DT.

Yes killing from afar with avenger is not impossible, but vs hardcore build you need to 1 hex.

I just wondered, what would be the best perk choice to totally maximize the damage done by (Avenger) Minigun?
If I'm correct, it would be :
Level 3: More Critical (critical hits are always nice)
Level 6: Even More Criticals (like above)
Level 9: Bonus Ranged Damage (+2 per shot. Since you fire 40 rounds, it's ~80 bonus damage)
Level 12: Better Criticals (pretty obvious)
Level 15: Living Anatomy (+5 damage per shot, so I suppose that's how it works, yea?)
Level 18: Bonus Ranged Damage (allows you to burst 2 times per turn)
Level 21: More Ranged Damage (+3 dmg per shot)
Level 24: Bonus Ranged Damage+

Better take bonus rate of fire instead of better criticals since this perk is not so important for bursts while shoting faster is way better choice.
One small advice, if you make this build, try not to get hit because you will die very often from 1 burst and even with all those perks it will still be hard to kill tanks with 2 bursts.

Nope, unlike BRD, BRD+ and MRD, where its bonus damage per bullet, with Living anatomy its +5dmg per attack (aimed shot, single shot, burst)

Oh wait, at level 18 I meant "Bonus rare of fire". The names were always similiar to me.

That's grea to know. I was affraid that my build is garbage because I don't have the Living anatomy. Buuut in that case, I think it may do. It's like that :
Level 3: More critical
Level 6: Even more criticals
Level 9: Bonus ranged damage
Level 12: Lifegiver (bonus HP IS important for me)
Level 15: More Ranged Damage
Level 18: Bonus Rate of Fire
Level 21: Lifegiver+
Level 24: Bonus Ranged Damage+

This way I have 246HP and can burst two times per turn with +7 damage per bullet and 20% critical chance. I've already killed few players, so I think this build isn't that horrible, or is it? Guess I could make some  fixes, but I kinda like it.

You should make good dmg with that build, just make sure you are using AP ammo.

This build is good, but you have no damage resistance, so forgot fight like 1vs1 against tank i think.

If you want to stand a chance against tank I think you should at least replace more criticals by adrenaline rush.

Adrenaline Rush? I though it's not any good at all. The major effect occurs when you have less than 25% HP, and at that point pretty much anythin will kill you.

Well yea, I knew what it does. It increases DR and DT to all kinds of damage, but it gives some serious bonus after you lose 50% of HP, and the biggest bonus when you have <25% of HP. Most players have about 250 HP at max level, so it's about 50-60HP.

IMO still better than "better criticals" (you dont need crits with avenger)

But Better Criticals is for level 12, and Adrenaline Rush is for level 3. At level 3 you can take More Critical. Maybe minigun doesn't necesarrily require Critical Hits, but it's better to score one than not, I suppose.

You do what you want, it always depends how you want to play your char. Im not sure if you will do lots of damage vs a tank that has all the resistance perks.
