Where can I store my stuff?

How do I store my stuff in places? When people say that, do they mean they just go to a coordination in the map and place it there? And if so that is how it works, can they disappear?

So put your items in your tent, and viola, its safe. Well relatively safe anyways. There is really no safe place in the wastes so never trust anyone enough to bring them to your tent.
