Crafters! Merchants! Lend me your ears!

I've already done many things for crafters and barter builds. Many things. See: Ultima Online.

However now I am running out of NEW and UNIQUE ideas for repeatable things to do. Aside from gathering or crafting in bulk, or performing tasks for npcs that involve collecting items, what more is there to do?

Can anyone suggest ideas from other games, or anything new at all? What do you like doing as a crafter or barter guy? Hoarding items is fun, selling them to vendors is fun too, but what else can we do with our fancy skills and time?

I would like to add some sort of Barter Guild... but what would be fun to do there? Bring in X item(s)? Craft x amount of y? Let's get those creative juices flowing and put our heads together!

Perhaps a more broad weapon and/or armor modification system? Just a thought :)

Yes more base customization please. Optionally I would like "stacked barrels" and "barrel" item to make barrel wall around my base like a fort.

Other ideas that I quickly came up with now:

-Brahmin herding for brahmin skins. If you catch 2 brahmin and place them in pen together they reproduce into more. Resize brahmin animations to half size for baby brahmin.

-With every base you get a base keeper: a mr. handy robot. You talk to him to hire more base npc's: A medic who can heal you or your injured limbs, decorative npc hookers, dude who tells you raiders locations nearby, whatever else

-craft robots. Robot serves scavenging purpose, you can craft robot from materials then program it to search for you. You initiate dialog, pick radio frequency, and have option: search for... junk? metal? fiber? wood? chem components? electronic components? and so on. You pick one and robot leaves the map, you get a message on radio frequency: "bzz target found bzz..." then you see dot on worldmap where your robot is.

-You can't expand base with buildings because of limitations but you can expand base if you add green exit grid that is scripted to go to another map, this map would depend on what structure you choose to add on to your base. A in base mr. handy or terminal can be used to choose which structures to add. Structures like: "brahmin pen" "extra building with storage" "medical station" "arena where you can practice against robots" This addition cannot be changed once added and is forever to the base

rework craft alloys, from 2 ore, 2 minerals to 1 ore, 2 minerals. it will to help a lot.

always after craft we have a lot useless minerals, waiting for new ore(we are using ore to craft metal parts too).

As long as the robot can be hijacked by players, and is really really expensive to craft, it could work.
 - To find the robot on the map, you need to have the same radio frequency set and be within a few tiles on the map. (this might need a radio tweak as well, maybe if your frequency is within a range of 5, you will hear the robot but the speech is unrecognizable.)
 - Also the robot could encounter NPC groups from time to time, it should alert the player, the robot cannot flee the encounter, but cannot fight back either, it would need player help or get destroyed. (High hp and dmg resistance, so it lasts until owner gets to him)
 - Robot consumes energy cells for fuel.
 - Robot is only gathering while the player is online and one player could have only one robot working for him.
 - Robot needs higher science and repair to maintain, healing it up costs metal parts/junk/circuits.
 - The robot can be looted if destroyed or if someone knows the frequency it uses, has a radio set to that frequency, then it can be talked to and traded.
 - After weight capacity fills, robot return to the location where it's scavenging mission started.

That would be cool!
That was done for fo2 and it was cool (although they had to be all remade into pickable items & remade blockers & and xy in mapper)

My ideas are
-Trading runs - scripted dynamic price changes of exact item types (ammo/armors/weapons/misc)
-Caravan runs actually carrying something.

What about the ability to create a shop in a town? this would only be possible when in a faction.

this could provide a different avenue for trade and allow another direction to the game.

It could also open the possibility of faction run caravans to pass quantity of items between stores or other factions for trade.
this would still be open to standard looting/encounter rules. Making it a requirement to have a manned escort, promoting further co-operative play.

The shop would cost a considerable amount(million +) with upkeep paid to the town, with non payment causing karma to drop resulting in guards attacking onsite therefore not making just a thing to have, but a considered decision for a faction (Possibility to introduce the concept of Faction based Karma)

Stock held in lockable cabinets - lockpicking possible only with special set of tools

Being able to craft furniture would be a good expansion in crafting section, also specialist locks and lock picks for items that require greater protection

All such tasty ideas!

I'm glad the community wants more furniture items bcuz I myself crave new customization to my tents and bases! Even if that OTHER server had the idea first it was originally in Ultima Online which is technically a prequel to Fonline anyway, therefore making it OPEN SOURCE!

Some new features already in game tho , check out L.A shoon.

Shops are something we've already brainstormed BTW I think we came up with a better solution since physical player shops would take up too much space in game.

That idea of items fluctuating between towns at certain hours is pretty interesting I wonder if I could code something up real quick...
