MONOPOLY - ECONOMY
« on: October 16, 2013, 09:40:38 pm »
Hello,

When Ive been thinking about mechanisms of economy applied on server, accidentally I have came across this. Which supricely, is a good picture of the idea I have been just thinking of. And very inspiring in general.

http://www.google.pl/imgres?imgurl=http://bi.gazeta.pl/im/6/10197/z10197456Q,Fallout-Monopoly.jpg&imgrefurl=http://polygamia.pl/Polygamia/1,112157,10197334,Falloutowy_Monopol.html&h=620&w=620&sz=156&tbnid=gq7jcbKRBebXqM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=90&zoom=1&usg=___N1fVcUgG_fJdCzZD_0IUrFedvg=&docid=EB4e8x1wr5S9CM&sa=X&ei=6wFfUs-WL8TXsgaWzIHwDA&ved=0CC8Q9QEwAA

Isn't this a fine example of good economical model ? According to my last posts about craftable electronic parts [(and such). GOLD, METAL, ALLOS = electronic parts. etc.] Similar, as it is in the monopoly. By getting all desired fields you can make "hotels" ; p - better items.

In game. Large amount of resources can be obtain only in the certain places. Gold can be dug in Redding Mine - and so on. Smaller, can be found throughout the wold map, encounters. The idea is, to give players chance to control the market. Lets say you or your gang controls the Redding. You are the only one who can make large amounts of gold which is ingridiant for other things. Electronic parts, for example. Just like in the Monopoly. But, there should be also special places. Abandon facilities etc. So, you have to negotiate and make deals with other players if you can't control all the places at the same time - for the price of compromise - you gain access to their facilities, resources. Also merchants in the controled town shops could be supplied in the similar way.

When applied it might be connected with town control and be regulated via same system as S.P.E.C.I.A.L

Isn't that nice ? If you think its ridiculous - please, tell me.

PS
Wait a sec... Isn't that Monopoly Guy a Valutguy himself ? (or his ancestor)

Economy, what's this? :)
Currently we have none.
Limitless resources are the biggest weakness.

My solution:

Resources are available only in certain locations.
Gold - nearby Redding, Uranium - Broken Hills etc.

When you are travelling thru Wasteland you can encounter the terrain with single vein.
You can place there a tent or house, the vein remains active.

Every vein has limited amount of resources - generated randomly.
With high Science Skill you can examine the vein.

This will provide the new item to trade - map with rich vein will be valuable.

Public mines can remain, but with very limited resources.

The same solution could be used for plants.
Single plant will give you only 20 pieces, but you'll be able to respawn them using the brahmin dung and/or water.

I remember "economy" on 2238. It sucked. I don't need economy here.

Can you explain this to the people not familiar with 2238?

you could steal milions of 5mm ap/mfc from enclave and hundrets of SS from bos. shopkeepers didnt buy anything from you, beyond few items, and all shops were spammed with 5mm and mfc. crafting were usless becasue ca mk2 were much better, no one ever bother to craft drugs because cost were to high, repairing were pain in the ass, mele mutants were cheap as fuck 50caps per 1mele.

Thats it, this is it ! Thinking the same think. Ecstasy of gold begins ! : ) Idea with plants and science skill as a tool is exactly what we need ! And maps are such a nice way to do it. The game has its all in it ! It just needed to be squeezed out.
