Real-time mode
« on: September 04, 2013, 12:56:54 pm »
I think that biggest one problem of this game is this whole thing with battlemodes. I am old player of f1 and f2, but have also played in tactics, but... when it comes to battle (i have turned on turn-based mode), if its random ecounter, sometimes i enter to the location when someone with real time mode on is already fighting with mobs. Most of all i cant even run to the exit area, and i am just dead after 5 seconds... At the beginnig of the game (few first lvls) it is just impossible to survive any ecounter without turn-based on, even if there arent any "pro" PKers at the localization. Mobs, even rats, will just surround You and You cant move, you just have to watch how fast your hp is lowering. Its not good, its irritating for new players. If You was playing in Fallout tactics: BoS You should remember what battlemode was there, and it was much diffrent, you was able to to turn on auto attack, and can change from standing to kneeling etc. what was giving real tactical thing to the game. You was able to hide over the obstacles and that stuff. Sry but in fonline only thing what gives real time mode are frustrated new player, with one are dead sometimes at every one ecounter what they will meet. In my opinion Real-time mode should be like in FT: BoS or should be turn off permamently. It is braking game whith can be really perfect mmo for f1, f2 fans. Some things from FT:BOS are good but this real time mode is... retarded. Regards.

1. Use FOConfig, set mode to TB-only
- i have it on all the time, but stil have RT at some ecounters.

2. TB in towns is not possible.

There is really not much you can do about it, since when you have turn-based mode on and other player have set both modes, you are basically sucked into his encounter and play in his mode (which is both modes which is RT with possibility to meet all modes and to pull any player to your enc). I believe it is hardcoded in the engine.

Discussion about TB vs RT is an very old discussion. Current game interface is suited mostly for TB, and by interface i mean not just a fancy pictures, but also amount of useless mouse clicks you have to do to perform basic action - switching cursor modes can be a pain in the ass sometimes during RT (That's also why we have hotkeys for some of the things - like aim modes).
TB doesn't scale in highly populated areas/encounters (imagine 60 players in one encounter doing PvP... you do your move and then you go drink some coffee, take a dump, take a shower, get back, wait a little and then it's your turn again if you are still alive :)).

The game should have only 1 mode - RT, but not the RT that we currently have (using current RT is like riding a bike that has a dildo instead of seat, some people got used to that, but it doesn't change the fact that shit is still ugly), not even the one that we have in FT:BoS (we need close to that one, but better, some sort of hybrid between FT:Bos and RTS game like interface - that worked pretty well in such games as Rage of Mages/Allods and Evil Islands series). Unfortunately it's impossible to fix without rewriting parts of FOnline engine, so it's not going to be addressed anytime soon or ever.

Hello Kitty Online is not just about defeating monsters - there are many activities to choose from. Aside from exploring the monster-filled adventure areas, players can dig for ore, range the wilderness to pick fruit from trees, discover new cities, craft a broad selection of goods and more.

- True, and it is also help to quick avoidance of NPC ecounters, what means faster traveling. Good for crafters, but not only.
