Engine is getting old, same with players. Many of us come here after Fallouts. F3 and later games players arent interested in such an old game. Plus really really poor advertisement. Thats all..enough to make playerbase dying.

Good advertisement won't do long term good job if there's not much to do in game. Ancient engine or graphics are not the case - Minecraft looks worse than Carmageddon released in 1997, yet it's extremely popular.
