Is 180% Enough For Fighting Skills? (PvP)
« on: November 18, 2013, 03:52:39 pm »
Hey, I'm trying to build a PvP char, and trying to save some SPECIAL points from INT. As I've seen in some builds on FCP, people max their primary figting skill to 180 on lvl 24. So the question is simple, should I need to go more than 180% in any fighting skill (SG, BG, EW, etc.)?

I know there's no hard cap, but still, I want to plan my char more precisely.

Depends on what weapon you want to use, but from what I've heard 200-240 seems to be average.
With <200 you can still miss quite often.

Read wiki, and check out the perks that you can get only by having 175+, or 200+ fighting skills.
Lot of them are important perks for PvP, so that's we should focus on getting the skills past 175 or 200 before you're LV24.

You won't get anymore perks after lv24, so after that you can start raising other skills to your convenience.

190 is enough for close combat

What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger...

I would say 200% for Close Combat, 240-250% for sniper and such..

For PvP, no 180 is not usually enough. 180 is only a thing because you need 180 to get BRoF perks, which is very important for PvP. But beyond that you need more like 220+ for the longest ranged shots from various snipers. So how much gun skill you need depends a lot on what kind of PvP fighter you are planning. For snipers, try to go over 220. Use the calculator in the planner to see what i mean.

A minigun has ST requirement of 7 ST.

If you have 6ST and 180% BG skill then you will only be running at 160% BG skill
If you have 5ST and 180% BG skill then you will only be running at 140% BG skill
as you can see that every -1st from BG requirement is -20% BG/EW/SG

Some PvP builds stop at 180% BG/SG/EW because thay have 7ST when drugged

If you have 1ST then be sure you will have to go to about 260% BG skill to shoot at max range with an aveger mini gun and even more with an m60

A Laser Rifle "Energy Sniper" with ST 7, PE 10, LK 10 Sharpshooter who targets eyes:

With EW 180, he has 76% chance to hit eyes at 45 hexes
With EW 190, he had 86% chance to hit eyes at 45 hexes
With EW 200, he has 95% chance to hit eyes at 45 hexes

Now if other factors reduce chance to hit, you can see how you'd want your elite snipers to have well above 200. Without Sharpshooter perk, deduct 8% from above numbers.
