Sure, this is always the problem when you do this for fun ... If you're playing you aren't doing anything ... and when you're playing you're only seeing your view point.
I'd ask players about their view and get 10 different views all disagreeing, haha. I mostly trusted the maths and fine tuned it with a bit of player feedback. Never will be perfect but that was how I liked it.
Of course we had a dev team with lots of different preferences on how things should be, so lots of the time we would all have to make compromises. Might not be the perfect way to get a finished result bit we had lots of good times
