Holodisk for Thomas Moore quest

Hi all, new to the game and to the forum. I have a question about the above quest. After I accepted it I was on my way to Vault City when some douche killed me and looted my stuff. Now I lost the holodisk and can't complete the quest. Even when I go back and talk to Mr. Westin there is no dialogue option regarding it. Is this quest just forever failed?

Did you read (upload) the tape before it was stolen?

I don't think so, I just had it in my inventory

Erm, i remember correctly you cannot read it. Anyway there is a bug when you want to put this tape on ground it dissappear...I had once something like that

Anything that can be done? Or should I just forget about it?

Maybe make alt char or write PM/help request to devs so they can reset your mission

I'm not sure about this. I know the how other holotape quest works though: you get tape 1 in Necropolis, and read it. You do not have to bring the tape itself with you to Gecko. Having the message in your Pip-Boy is good enough. Then you go to Gecko and get tape 2. Upload that one. Same thing - you go back to Necropolis to deliver that message but you don't need to have the tape with you because you uploaded the message and these NPCs apparently get the info that way. You get 2 free tapes and 3000 xp for this quest. I'd say it's worth it since its a long walk and Gecko gets dicey.

But as for this Thomas thing...not sure. I would have hoped it worked similarly.
