Bunker base

Hey,

I wanted to start the "Abandoned Bunker" quest line so I could purchase a base for my dad and I. I went to the wiki, and used the limited information there to sort of find the person I'm supposed to talk to. I'm not sure if I have already talked to him, or if maybe someone in my faction did - but I cannot buy him a beer. It's been a while since I logged in, but I'm sure my faction has been inactive for the most part (The Spice Collectors). I have 2 Charis, but I pop some mentats and beer before I talk to him and still, nothing. I have well over the amount of caps required, so it is frustrating not being able to find out what I am supposed to do. I spent an hour talking to people in the boneyard areas to see if maybe I started the quest without knowing it, and stilll I had no luck.

Can anyone give me some direction as to what I should do? or how I can accomplish getting this sweet base?

Please confirm:

* You went to Junktown north, and tried to buy a beer for a guy at the bar?
* Why did you go to Watershed if the quest did not start yet?
* The Spice Collectors is a faction name already established and your character is a member?
* Your character is the leader of The Spice Collectors?

Talk to the Trapper in Junk town (give him a beer{go to Junktown bar up north 10caps for one beer}) then go to Salvagers talk to the people inside the Blades area, then go to Necrop. and talk to random Ghouls and they will tell you where's the Ghoul who sells the Bunker Location.

Ah, you know what - i discovered my character is not the leader. The leader has long since stopped playing.

Thanks for the tips, when I find a way to get it sorted I'm sure I will be able to do it this time.

Then your whole faction is screwed.....

I think that (your) character would have to claim leadership of the existing faction first. Then, as leader, he can add bases, including the bunker base.

Otherwise he would have to resign from existing membership. Then he can start his own new faction by buying his first base. (I recommend the first base be one of the DIY bases and thus not a bunker base due to a bug i call the "First Base Broken Terminal" bug.)

But he can't claim leadership if the old leader hasn't stepped down or been deposed, right?

Not sure. I think any member can try to claim leadership anytime, but i have seen this happen enough to know the mechanics.
