Leaving a faction

How do I leave a faction I don;t want to be in?

Can I use the bases terminal as a just normal level member?

go to faction terminal and chose dialogs : miscellaneous -> resign -> yes -> yes, im sure

I think I joined BoS at some point but they seem to have forgotten I joined them, yet I still can't make a faction.  Help?

You need to be sure which faction you joined, than try again.

Go to your tent. Drop EVERYTHING. Even your radio. And especially anything worth something (like glasses).
Go to any BOS bunker.
Use the computer, select "Resign." YOU WILL DIE NOW, that's why you leave everything behind- Nothing lost.
