I got one though...
I just don't know where it came from. Other servers seem to have them spawn when you pwn Jules.

I don't know if it's still the case on FOnline: Reloaded, but in 2238 there was a tiny (0.01%) chance to find it when digging a grave.
Also you could find the same way another rare item, decomposing body.

Meh, you copy-pasted a big chunk of Redding into it. A bit of shame to see an original map that was planned and built from scratch enhanced like that :-\ The layout looks good though and building names is a nice addition too.

IMO the Fallout font is a bit uncomfortable to read with this size in the main text, especially that the lines of text are fairly long, which only makes it worse. I would keep the Fallout font only for headers, buttons, menu etc.

Sorry about reviving a relatively old thread, but figured this was kind of important. I got a malware warning from chrome for this file...

I did a little map creation a long time ago, and was wanting to get back into it. I guess I'll try and stick with the older map editor until some kind of explanation comes out for the malware on the standalone editor.

There isn't any malware there unless it's in the original Mapper too and I don't know about it. But you can use 2238 Mapper instead if you don't trust it. The differences are purely cosmetic (data and configuration files are differently organized to make running the Mapper more "idiot-proof"). The Mapper features and the interface are the same.

Download 2238 server and copy maps from it.
I didn't include them to keep it small.

can u be more specific ? For example i wana use actual reloaded maps, where can i find those maps ?
I don't think Reloaded maps are available. 2238 maps are here:
http://fo2238.fodev.net/source/FOnline2238.server+tools.zip
in server\maps folder.

If I can give some advice, it's better to make maps with rectangular shape, because
it's hard to scroll screen along the map edges on maps with "diamond" shape.

You can do it by simply not filling the corners with stuff and by placing scroll blockers
in the shape of rectangle.

If nothing else works, you can try this one:
http://fodev.net/forum/index.php/topic,29529.0.html

Also I expanded ReadMe.txt a little bit, although it's still only basic info.

It's more likely that he is missing server files, mapper should run without Fallout dats
(although you won't see mouse cursor and tons of other graphics)... Here is full package:

To test a map you need to run server locally on your PC.
The easiest way is to replace existing map file (like Vault 15) with your map.
Otherwise you would have to define a new location in server files.

There is a whole load of pvp videos, yet there is little to no mapper tutorials, which is really really sad. Some 5 minute tutorial explaining how to build your own small map, using common techniques could encourage more people to try mapping on their own.

I don't think you would like to make maps after you saw on a video how they are done ;D
Mapper is like Microsoft Paint for graphics (actually it's worse, but you get the idea).

Plenty of people said something along the lines ' Nice artwork, but it's probably just another fallout-like project that won't actually survive'.
Well I am pleasantly surprised to see it alive!

What we have seen so far is a short video of a man walking on a desert and a collection of concept arts. For a developer that makes bold claims about game size surpassing Fallout 1 and 2 combined, non-linear story, hardcore mechanics and atmosphere, and already sells the (yet to be finished) game, it's just not very convincing to me.

A little more modesty wouldn't hurt, at least until there is something to back the claims up.

Editor linked by Kilgore didn't worked for me.

Probably because you didn't download server. You have to download BOTH client+mapper and server to use 2238 Mapper:

http://fo2238.fodev.net/source/FOnline2238.client+mapper.zip
http://fo2238.fodev.net/source/FOnline2238.server+tools.zip

Because Mapper uses some server files, like item protos. It can't work without them.

You shouldn't use Mapper from tutorial, because many items, scripts, dialogs etc are different. Reloaded is a fork of 2238, so it's much more compatible with 2238 than with the original FOnline SDK.

What I think would be better, would be the Mapper (and other tools) with FOnline Reloaded protos and other files required by them in a single package - updated sometimes (I think that should be standard way of doing it by any closed source server that wants some help with content creation, but for some reason nobody is doing it - maybe nobody needs help).

I don't know, in 2238 this message wasn't really used, because there was no robot predators, but it was meant for all kinds of robots.

I think those text are pretty useless, and it would be fine that no text would appear when creature come.

Mostly what comes against is rats, dogs and mantis with little more HP than usual. Yet easily to be killed.

Maybe not the most useful thing in the world, but it also can tell you what creature will appear:

Jeśli interesuje Cię coś bardziej awangardowego, wal śmiało do BBS (Boston Bohème Society).
