Scammer Rancor selling phantom Gauss Rifles

Both I and Muffin purchased a Gauss Rifle from BBS for 200k each, specifically from "Rancor". Shortly after the purchase, the weapon vanishes completely leaving me with only the ammo and 200k short. This is some new scam?

Yes he sold me one for (200,000) caps as soon as i left it disappeared from my inventory. Proving tat staff is spawning duplicated weapons for them to use and now he is selling them.  I believe it returns to him when someone leaves. Return caps in full refund or a gauss rifle.. Or its simple proof of the admin ran Bang Bang Smash and how theyre so "powerful" Sorry seki. Rancor is making all of your hard work look like nothing

The worst part about it is that when we confronted him, he made it seem like nothing would ever happen to him.

The weapon wouldn't go back to anyone once it disappears.  There are legit and non-legit weapons in the game.

Back in the day we used to teleport steal weapons, armors, and ammo from Hinkley and GM Events (why do you think you can't steal KO players?).

The problem with weapons and armors stolen from Hinkley is that they disappeared when characters despawned after logging out.

Sounds like the two Gauss rifles were "non-legit" weapons, as far as I can tell, and that's why they disappeared.  You both logged out with the weapons on your characters, correct?

This is all just a guess on my part.

 

ETA - Not accusing GM's/Admins, either.  Could be a redux of an issue the previous session with a player...

Nope never logged out with it. Its okay. Apparentlydocan will look into this "bug" but whatever.

I think it may be jumping to conclusions to say admin abuse but me and some others heard from both of these people(muffin and then melt) separately of the exact same thing happening to each of them. A few minutes after they bought the guass rifles they are gone. Could be an exploit of some kind. Also shortly before this happened I was in hub and a new low lvl character called "sellingguass" or something like that was trying to sell me a guass rifle for the fishy price 50k and asking if i knew anyone that would buy it when i declined to purchase it. Since it seemed shady i passed on it and was lucky for it.

I think that maybe it will happen once docan looks into it and probably not before. But if this is not fixed and there are no repercussions to someone scamming people, then there are grounds for admin abuse accusations. So give it a day or two before throwing around those accusations maybe.

Apparently this also happened to Jake as well, so 3 of us being scammed by Rancor. And yes, I agree that jumping to conclusions is not cool, so I edited the thread.

All trades took place in NCR. In original Fallout 2, the NCR police spawned with gauss rifles. I believe that Rancor was exploiting a bug that allowed him to get a hold of one of these gauss rifles, but being not a valid weapon it would disappear after a while. Please check this, and ban that asshole if its true.
