For me, Fallout ended after Fallout 2 came out. Well, maybe tactics.

I enjoyed fallout 3 and new Vegas felt like it was basically just an expansion to fallout 3 but I still enjoyed that as well. Having the best graphics doesn't matter to me as long as the quests and gameplay are good. If they stick to the fallout 3 type of game I'll have no complaints. As long as they don't dumb it down the way elder scrolls got dumbed down with skyrim.
