Closed suggestions / Re: Wikia Update
« on: August 26, 2015, 09:50:37 pm »
If someone went to the effort of making an automated info updater why not just add it to the game?

  • easier to code
  • can be edited by players freely - more time for devs to work on actual game content
  • available when server is down - that include maintenance mode, as wiki is on different machine
  • easier to provide answers to newbies questions on forum/irc/ts/etc - link or copypaste
  • formatting - there's fuckload of things you'd have to implement in client first
  • portability - if it can work on standard server files, it will work on any FOnline server
  • ...and more...

Not saying that ingame help isn't needed, sure it is, but at this point there's much more benefits from having wiki up to date.

More like wiki needs some automated solution to keep basic stuff up to date. Things like items stats, perks, crafting requirements, etc could be updated by bot when needed, leaving wiki editors with more interesting stuff to do. Both mediawiki and game itself are open source, so anyone familiar with mediawiki api can easily test it locally.

Closed bugs / Re: My character can't run

Heh, it might be good idea to add 'no running' info in chosen tabs, next to 'addicted', 'radiated', etc.

Great. Now try your code with any FOnline client.

So where's the code...?

Why

It was originally ported to FOnline as 3D critter [by Luther Blissett] so there's no way to get it into Reloaded, unless you can find or make .FRM version of it.

54
Oh, let's see... maybe because it affects almost everything char-related. Combat, perks, quests, skillpoints, FOV, inventory limits, weapons requirements, crafting, fuckload of other stuff.
Seriously, this suggestion is broken beyond repair.

55
That's insane.

Tools and Modifications / Re: GUI Theme Maker
« on: August 03, 2015, 01:57:24 am »
Some has been required years ago [when SDK was still using Fallout format closely], at least few was never deleted from 2238 .zips when they become obsolete [and that's how Reloaded got them], some are used by client and/or mapper... either way, it's devs not interface makers problem :P

deathclaws and ghouls doing TC ? or attacking other ghouls/deathclaws ? game would look terrible then, i think its better when players can be only humans

Sorry Seki, but that's how next session will look like... you better be ready for that :)

All skins available for players will be able to use all armors in next session, so only problem to make it them TC-worthy is preparing a build which won't die in 5 nanoseconds. If there's a place for close combat in TC, there's a place for rats, radscorpions, dogs, and all the rest of Fallout zoo.

That said, skin system is prepared with playability in mind, so there will be few "shortcuts" added to make your favourite skin as usuable as possible. Most humanoids will start using regular player animations when it looks fitting - usually when wearing Metal/Combat Armor or better. Some skins have special effects - for example ghouls and mutant keeps restrictions of "base" skin and you won't be able to run even when wearing CA [that's when ghouls start using player skin] or PA [that's when mutants starts using player skin]. As for moment of writing this, it's the only skin effect available, future will tell if there will be any other.

As a bonus, you'll be able to check skin restriction before buying it from barber, so you won't be suprised in a middle of combat. On picture green weapon name means it can be always used, otherwise it's available only when wearing specific armor - in case of mutants it's PA or better.

Suggestions / Re: Removal of inimical gangster NPCs in the Den
« on: July 26, 2015, 05:30:16 pm »
The guard NPCs in Becky's and the gangster den often perform "backstabs" on teams who they are dissatisfied with. In other words, they will attack whoever has killed them in the past
That actually fits to Den. And New Reno. And Raiders.

As long you want to add walls/roofs/scenery answer always* will be no; stick to items only and you'll have a bit higher chance to convince anyone.

*until there will be known way to add these elements runtime
