Title: [n00b] Compiling Fonts
Post by: phatskat on December 11, 2013, 12:28:34 am
Any tips on how to compile a new font from a PNG?

Edit: Figured it out - see this thread for tools http://forum.fonline-reloaded.net/index.php?topic=3192.0 (http://forum.fonline-reloaded.net/index.php?topic=3192.0)

You mean convert a PNG file to a binary fnt file with full description? I don’t think it’s an easy task, but you can try programs like Bitmap Font Generator (http://www.angelcode.com/products/bmfont/), ShoeBox (http://renderhjs.net/shoebox/bitmapFont.htm) or UBFG (https://github.com/scriptum/UBFG), though I’m afraid none of these tools will do exactly what you want.

Well, I assumed binary...but I just opened up the .fofnt for the font I was editing and...it appears that it's just a text file  ;) Well, mark this as solved...on to figuring out why my fonts didn't show then.

Thanks for the tips, I'll try to investigate a little more in the future but given the Terminal icon on the file, I was sure they were binary. Derp derp.
