Had a go at this silly game, very innovative, very interesting.

Navigate miles and miles of tyre changing, fuel burning, carburettor busting, mud clattering terrain, through night and day, rain and shine. Adapt to whatever the procedurally generated world of Jalopy can throw at you.

Upgrade, maintain and care for your Laika 601 Deluxe motor vehicle. Keep close attention to everything from the state of your tyres, the condition of your engine and even the space in your trunk. Repair each aspect of your scrappy little car and install unique upgrades to deal with the changing world. Everything from cargo weight to the condition of your carburettor will determine how your car performs on the open road.

The rise of capitalism brings an economical conundrum. Scavenge for scraps to make a small return of investment, or become a baron of the open road and smuggle contraband under the eyes of border patrols to make a sizable profit.

Developer Greg Pryjmachuk worked on the Formula 1 franchise from 2009 through to 2014. In late 2014, Greg began work on this new driving simulation featuring the fictional Laika 601 Deluxe car; reminiscent of the East German “Trabbie”, it will need much love and care to keep it going on this memorable road trip!

It's a great start for a post-apocalyptic RPG Sim-type game. Just imagine if it had guns!

Please steal the idea! Hell, if I could I'd make a knock-off! If anyone is interested in working on a project like this, I want to help write/design it!

"Old World Dreams"

Create your character/party and get them to paradise. Hop in your PoS car and travel post-apocalyptic America looking for a place to settle down and start rebuilding society. Gather all supplies necessary and fight off any foes in this randomly generated, open world, sandbox game where you must not only deal with the natural environment, but other survivors/players as well.

Hop on a public server, host your own, play offline, or enter co-op mode. Pick a spot to settle down, and start rebuilding! Turn a nuclear devastated world back into a comfy hellhole! But watch out for other players. Create your party by first choosing a class: Settler, Bandit, or Survivor.

Settlers would be the core of the game: driving, building, hoarding, gathering, fighting, etc But they wouldn't be as powerful against other settlers, or larger threats. Trading and negotiation would be much more profitable for this class. -20% DMG against other players, etc.

Survivors would be the neutral party, a loner, a nomad who can freely join other settlers and provide combat support. Can't build their own settlements, but can join others and gains driving bonuses, scavenging bonuses, damage bonuses, etc. Can freely kill/rob anyone, but would use a karma system. High karma towns won't allow low karma characters, due to the massive penalties they would receive. AKA less bonuses in the long run.

Bandits would be the fun troll class, for PvP and kicking butt. Harass players, rob them, burn down their stuff, but you can't own any property or build/craft. Scavenge or take what you need by force. Can't trade with towns unless you're in disguise, or have enough "peace points" (achieve those by going longer without attacking anyone. Rewards good behaviour lol and helps provide a little incentive from NOT killing noobs) Bonuses against Settlers, but Survivors are your worse enemy! Band together and create travelling murderous nomads! See America the good ol fashioned violent way, by burning everything behind you down! Some sort of aura bonus would be provided if you're in a gang, IE: Bigger bandit clan = more bonuses. Encourages players to randomly work together with other Bandits. You won't really know the other Bandit player, but who cares? Just banding up gets you XP and bonuses! "Hey random fellow bad guy! I'm just going to follow you for a while! Okay! See ya!" Killing Bandits would penalize you with a "bandit karma" point loss, unless you've openly declared war on their "faction". Prevents Bandits trolling Bandits. Use your Bandit Karma points as cash at Bandit Hideouts! Win/Buy epic stuff for B@nd1t$!

With a system like this you could also force players to alternate their new characters. IE: If you have a Settler, your next character created (alt) would have to be a Bandit or Survivor. Abandoned characters or discards could be potentially kept in the world and given over to the A.I. This could populate the world according to it's server use/popularity. Having a character delete cool down would prevent exploits. A.I characters would have a mind of their own and begin some sort of patrol process, doing their generic class specific actions. Could potentially recruit them into your little band of misfits, or welcome them to your town. Maybe just give them a lift and help them get out of the rain for a few minutes?

Settlers could work together in specific predetermined "continents" or "states". A scoreboard could keep track of the progress of improvement, and land evolution. More Settlers in X part of the world could make it a more/less resourceful area, with less/more threats, but an ideal target for bandits/survivors. Players would even have the chance of just picking up their crap, getting in their car and driving somewhere else.

Each attack on your group would have to be controlled, of course. You can't just allow players to be trolled over and over again, or be griefed. Some sort of anti-pvp cool down would be toggled after an attack. Allowing the Settlers to rebuild before being attacked again. But each attack on your settlement would make you stronger. Granting a small 0.01% perma increase, but also providing a small negative to prevent exploits.

Sounds awesome, eh? Anybody want to pay me to help design it? :)
