Companion camping
« on: January 01, 2014, 01:22:40 pm »
Most of us know that players who camp companion spawn locations have become quite common and very annoying.
As Kirkor suggested in the companion bug topic, changing logout in towns could solve this problem.

There are two solutions I want to suggest:

1) Logout in towns should send you to the worldmap after the logout timer runs out.

2) Companions should have a level requirement of 9

For the time being the only thing we can do is report these alts.
Not very efficient, I know, but it's better than doing nothing.

I've seen "SkyX", "SkyXX" and "SkyXiiii" camp.

Maybe this (or lvl 12) in next update.

Also, long time ago someone suggested that companions should be paid for recruiting (one-time fee).

Seems kinda pointless. It would be more interesting if you'd have to do a small quest for them.
Maybe that way players don't just take the follower to check their stats and kill em if they suck
when they don't really need a companion with that particular weapon skill.

Sure, sounds good.

Make a working quest and maps so I can implement it.

I would if I had the time for it.  :/

Possible solution: Make it impossible to logoff inside cities (your character stays there logged on).
This should solve the problem, at least partially.

Some very good ideas, I like to point some out.

I don't like this. Companions, I see them as friendly companions and not as unfriendly money thinking mercenaries.

Yup, more places is always good to get more companions.

Companions should have a level requirement (Lvl 9-12)
I think this is one that hit those camper alts most, good point.

Yes! I like the idea of a level requirement

if a low level wants to recruit a companion, they could say that you don't look like you can handle yourself or something

that SkyXII(etc) player is everywhere, all fucking day, taking all the companions. We shouldn't need alts for things like this, one thing I loved about this new Fonline is the fact that I need less alts to enjoy the game. To make another character just to run around and get a companion is lame. I like the system but I've only ever found anyone in NCR, despite my attempts going everywhere else in the wasteland. So like someone suggested up there, adding more locations for these companions to visit would be a better idea, but then you might get 10x more alts made. Adding a level req would be great, maybe like level 12+, something pretty high so that lower level players can try slaving or mercs. I wouldn't complain if you required caps either, seriously w.e it takes to prevent people like SkyXI from taking all the companions for himself or his stupid gang.

But hey it doesn't really matter, I've managed to hire a companion, and it is still fun searching every single bar in the game for a companion. Just make sure these companions can spawn near every single bar in the game.

I vote for the level requirement and the logout-to-worldmap in towns thing.

Could we just make this an offense? It takes all the fun out of travelling into different towns' bars because there's some asshat camping for companions and just killing them if they're not any good.

Also, there are guys named HubSlaver3 and JTSlaver7. Both are probably owned by the same person.
