Crafted stuff such as AP cost weapons and +critchance/roll are way better than noncrafted ones and it doesnt make such a  big difference.
Another thing is a weapon with 2 stats like ap cost +range is harder to get and still the best and also cheapest option would be full hp bazooka/gatling/pancor with slaves which is already happening.

The difference is actually small with good weapons like avengers, pancors or rocket launchers, but there is a huge difference between crafted sniper/laser rifles and regular ones.
