In-game Moderators
« on: February 16, 2016, 06:03:02 am »
So i'm not completely sure if this suggestion was already made but here we go.

So in most games that i have played online there is a main owner, possibly one or two depending on the sides. Forum Administrators that deal with bigger issues that players have and forum drama. And then in-game moderators. I feel that from recent complaints that i have been seeing there are not enough staff (kilgore/cubik/docan if he even still exists/charlie) Which is enough as far as forums and important staff go. But then who is there to answer new players ~requesthelp. I gauruntee i have used request help atleast on 30 seperate occasians. Have also spoken to many new and older players that feel that what they have to say is not heard and many players leave the game/feel discouraged when their account gets stuck or someone is fast relogging <- yes about this i realise you are supposed to make screens etc and report. But if in-game moderators were added with simple powers like the Teleport To a player option, mute, kick from server temporarily, possibly even temporary bans, the server could move a lot easier.

Now another huge thing that this would help with. Is the amount of new players that come to the game logg in and ask for help but all they get is someone telling them to tag them and follow them to the wilderness for gear and help but are brought to a base with 5 guys killed and then loggs out to find a server with someone that can help them. I know this has happened many times cause ive seen 3-4 instances like this in a day of playing. Not only would staff be able to help new players even by just directing them to guides or giving them a basic layout of the game without having to come to forums and no life just to be able to join a faction or get decent enough gear to pve.

Weve all been in certain situations where having a tiny big of help could have brought us a long way. I feel that there would be some form of vote / entry system for trusted players without bias to have a chance to apply. I hope some of you will post some more thought out responses because i know i dont go to indept because i want this to be simple for kilgore to help the server flow. I gauruntee if there were ingame staff to help new and even old players the amount of players that stay when they join would increase :)

First suggestion sorry if theres repetition :^

To clerify i am not talking about full Game administrative rights. like cubik/docan/kilgore etc. those would be administrators. Moderators = Event hosts, Muters, Kickers, ability to teleport a certain player that needs help, someone with deep info of the game that is willing to have a charecter specifically for doing these things. no item spawning. no permanent ban. And as soon as abuse is seen they should be demoted. As only trusted players should be promoted anyways. Ill use an example of a player that would have made perfect moderators : Henry. Deep knowledge of the game and non biased toward factions.

PS. Kilgore if you dont want to search for the player yourself because we know you are busy allow players to elect maybe 3-4 people and have a vote for trial. If you found a moderator you actually liked think about what that would mean in the server. People could ~requesthelp during a fastrelog and have a staff member show up every time. New players would stay because there are players truly willing to help. Im only saying this because trust me. We know you dont have a lot of time to search through thousand players for a moderator you can trust but i promise you that this would Stream line the server flow. No more forum crying about cheating when no staff are on because if there are moderators ingame they can teleport to and get the actual info of what happened. I just cant handle this idea being passed on because of being to busy making the wipe. This would be an amazing attachment to the wipe itself and prewipe (now) is the perfect testing time.

Yes. This server needs more active game staff. You should hire someone who can extract fun from creating events, care about game and who doesn't exists in any actual PvP group.

+1 for idea.

Edit:
I can even share admin account on my server to learn him commands, how to, etc.

Weve all been in certain situations where having a tiny big of help could have brought us a long way.
Haha, yes...if it weren't for a player named Lost Soul back in 2238, he gave me a tent but if I've never gotten one, I would have stopped playing FOnline a long time ago  :P

I remember kilgore saying only him, cubik, and docan will have GM abilities. Bad thing is DocAn's english isn't very good + rarely on, cubik is rarer than tier 4, and Kilgore is too busy to be on 24/7. We do need more for help with small task since they're all from Europe and lots of players with different time zones. Hopefully there will be 6 for next session, Corosive and maybe Slowhand? being the extra 2

AFAIK there are different status of GM powers - client (normal), tester, moder, and admin according to this. Not completely sure what they do but if they can do stuff to help players and such, we do need more. Problem is there are lots of trust issues with players, faciton bias, appointing the right candidate to be GM, etc. and not many players have knowledge of how to be a GM. Some PvPers don't trust kilgore or docan ever since the Kill N Die incident but I still believe :V

but there are logs devs can check, what commands were used, which character got GM powers, and such. If I had GM powers I'd just give myself all seeing vision and record battles since literally, every dev on every server has a fucken potato and video doesn't look that great  :-X

You should hire someone who can extract fun from creating events

And yes, we do need more events! PvE, PvP, group, tournaments, find the item, etc. would be fun. I miss those random PvP events made by Rusty. I was just farming BoS and then boom, some team PvP event in Ares but with invisible blockers that made a maze, it was crazy :P

Yes sir stalker youre right about the trust issues. When someone is appointment moderator rank they should go through trial period of maybe a week. if one abuse is posted with proof they should have instant demotion and their ip should be banned for 30 days. Or even permanently banned.

Thats another reason why i believe that there should be a vote. There are plenty of wiki editors that constantly play the game and have no biased toward any faction. I could make a list of possible candidates but i feel that that should be voted on by the people who make the game run including the game administrators and players themselves.

Even if they edit the ranks to make a player have no ban rights and no teleport to me. They should have mute/temp kick/teleporttoplayer/requesthelp should show up to them every time of course/maybe even make a staff area to teleport players to talk to them. Like kilgores personal house haha.

This is no solution to alll server issues but i know that it would help kilgore and the people that play the game. Less people to bitch at kilgore/More members stay in the game cause they arent fucked right when they loggin. win win? yes c:

This topic is so far from reality that for a moment, I thought it's 1st April today. Especially because posters above have quite rich forum ban log.

Lemme explain you few things:
- you won't find 100% neutral dude who will stay in game and help people and answer questions all the time, because it's shitty job and nobody is going to be paid for that, then even if you find one he will be trolled to death and bugged about every possible thing out there, then if he gets mad and reacts then new rage threads will flow in forums. Just watch some people when I'm online in Hub and you will see what I mean. If I'm present and something bad happens (someone dies, or loses some shit or whatever), for some strange reasons people prefer to blame me for that, than to think they used some feature in wrong way or someone just trolled them. Example .
Not to mention banning people for fast relogs or dual logs, see this thread if you have short memory. Want more? Check River of Tears section.

- you don't need GAME STAFF to stay at Hub and help new players because it's something that can be done by other players without problems. Maybe stop expecting other people to do stuff for you and do it yourself. Btw that's quite the way this server was founded.

- only me and DocAn have admin privileges now, it's absolutely minimum and we prefer to keep it that way. Why? You answered yourself:
Some PvPers don't trust kilgore or docan ever since the Kill N Die incident but I still believe :V
which is quite laughable because when we found out that kill n die used reroll procedure to gain admin access then we removed all spawned shit and kept banning him everywhere (every char, forum account) until he disappeared.
While we're at it, let me repeat myself:
You either trust admins or you don't.
If you don't, then you shouldn't play the game. It will be better both for you and game staff.
It is pretty much the same way with any online service, not only Reloaded game.
I mean, seriously. If you don't trust us, please don't play the game for your own good (and ours as well).

- whatever support is provided, there will be always some people who claim that nobody gives a shit about them and there is no support, or that there is GM/admin abuse,

- dunno what do you mean by potatoes but all of us have quite capable PCs, but no time to record videos, at least atm.

We won't appoint ANY new GM/admin simply because there would be a massive butthurt coming from some people for whatever reason. Instead of saving my time, I would waste more time on dealing with daily forum dramas and bitching about everything.

We don't even consider it, why? Because there was no one suitable for this job that wanted to do it. If somebody asked us about becoming a GM, it was always a player who was:
1) bored,
2) in need of power,
and such people shouldn't be given any power and they are not reliable (getting bored with admin commands takes only few days max.).

Btw I wrote all of this here.

I would be a great mod because I have that cuck mentality, I'm sure everyone here can vouch for that.
