Title: Being tracked by the same PK in random encounter
Post by: ahha on March 30, 2017, 02:23:25 am
Hi all,

Im a long time Fallout player and current 3 days old in this awesome FOnline game.

Last night when I was collecting Junk in the world map, I was killed by the same PvP player in Random Encounter over and over again even I moved to different zone.

Would like to ask:
1: How do he do it?
2: Any way to avoid it?

I tried to google it with a few keywords and no result turned out.I did ask in the game (Hub) but then more advanced players just keep saying Im too weak and soft. Others are giving incorrect answer to fool me.

Dont get me wrong, I dont feel bad about it. Actually its what makes the game shine: It's fxxxking dark but make me laugh lol.

What Im looking for is to understand the mechanism behind it and how it works.

Thanks!

When you're in an encounter, anyone can enter it without you knowing. There's know way to avoid him from entering.

Also your encounter I believe is like 3 zones wide all around, at least from experience I know this (might be right or wrong LMAO)

Thanks for the reply.

I assume that I am not being tracked down. The PvP Player just entered my encounter muilt-time by chance, is it correct?

And how do a player enter others encounter?

afaik I am pretty sure the encounter is restricted to the one same zone, but I also thought it happened when the party markers touched or were in very close proximity, but with the case of continuing to run into the same player over and over I doubt the latter is the case

also, for OP, if you want to be wary of possibly encountering someone, you can enter the area you're in (clicking on the party marker to enter the area) and leaving to check if anyone is currently on the world-map, but don't always rely on this; players can still be in the same zone and just in an encounter

name jeff

Thanks for the reply.

whoops you just posted sorry about that uh

It's impossible to be tracked down so long as you don't really stay around the same zone, and it should be chance just because you both are in the same position

i said name jeff

Encounters are def bigger than one square and checking world map only make you see people in your square so its a really bad way to tell. Experience tells me that we're not all entering from the same place. It might be that you can enter from any adjacent square.

You would see the player name as you travel on map on or next to the zone a player is in. It depends on the mode you are set to as well - real time you would see only players in real time encounters or set to 'both modes' you could see both real time and turn based.

Same as any other enc, you get a pop up and it mentions a player in red text... Also there is an index or something not found pop up as well. You can even drop on players by accident by just clicking to enter your current spot.

What everyone(except sven) is saying is that they are very smart and know the game super well..they inform you of inconsequential shite that barely matters.

You ARE being hunted.

This is not a flippant statement, many players hunt lower level players for a multitude of reasons, recruitment, gear, presence and of course sport being the main ones.

I myself am one such player.

In answer to the how part, i will obviously not be giving away my trades secrets, but i can at least let you know that it is not a cheat, or plug-in that you are not aware of, or anything untoward. It involves knowledge of player movements, timing, and a huge amount of luck.

But i say again..you are being hunted..

Reloaded not the same as FO2. I've experienced too many times to confirm an encounter is more than just 1 zone big.

Unfortunately there's a band of noobs that need to hunt down beginners to make themselves feel better.   ::)

was busy last week and didn't login.

Thanks everyone for the input. Still, I don't 100% understand how the system works but I have the general idea of what's going on.

It's good enough for me.

I'm a casual player and in fact I quit gaming for a while(life stage changes you know). FOnline ,to me, brings back memories of the good old days.

The game has it's potential and I didn't expect that. It's a far better fallout game to me than Bethesda.

I am not trying to compare apple to orange. What make Foline, in the name of "Fallout", great is the atmosphere :game rules and players behaviour.

So, if you enjoy killing beginners, being an asshole or want to be a saint , whatever, please do. That what I feel great about this game :)

i believe i can confirm that the encounter range on map is 3 spaces around. i was traveling to the hub and declined 3 times across 3 spaces in a span of several seconds to engage someone who was in turn based combat.
